Eco swap wiring questions
Friday, May 02, 2008 3:06 PM
I found a 1999 Sunfire for a cheap price, and the car is clean. I know when you do an eco swap finding a donor car is best as you need all the wiring from it. Well my question is will I need all the wiring from a 2003 up sunfire, or will I be able to use the wiring from a 2000 model, since people are swapping ecotecs into those? They have 2 Sunfires and 3 Cavaliers that are 2000-2002 models at my local salvage yard and none of them have been touched. Any help is needed and appreciated!

Well you will need the body wiring harness (can be any 00+ sunfire for the body harness). You will need the fuel tank (any 00+ tank will work). I have heard some 99's had the plastic tank if your 99 is then great your lucky. You will need a dash harness (any 00+ will work). When it comes to the motor, engine harness, BCM and ECU, and radiator it needs to be a Ecotec car they came from. It is best if you grab the ECU, BCM, cluster, and ignition switch all from the same car.

Thanks there John, you just made my freaking day! I'm buying the chassis harness off of one of these vehicles. I luck out, as he's only going to charge me $75 for the harness. I might buy all 5 harnesses, never know if there will be a ground someday. lol
