I have a glowshift tach and im trying to install it i have been working on it all day saturday and like 3 hours today. well my problem is i know how to wire it up and everything I just cannot find a signal. I have a cavalier 2.2 auto. I have checked all over and everyone says to splice it in with the wire thats going from coils I cant find the wire I was under my car looking all day today and found alot of wires that look like they are coming from the coil pack. I already have a tach adapter I just cant find a signal wire. So can anyone help me please and let me know where the easiest way to find a signal wire. Thanks in advance
I think it might be the white wire but im not completely sure.
or just wrap it around one of the plug connections... on the coilpack.
If you have a CPS which I think the LN2 does have, just track down the wires running from it.

Ok now this is probably a dumb question what is a CPS, and I could just wrap the wire around the coil and then plug my spark plug back and it would work??
Thanks again
My auto came with a stock tach, why do you want an aftermarket one!
its an auto......why do you need a tach (aftermarket that is)
its a stupid reason why i want one its just because i have always wanted a tach and my cluster doesnt have one. so I went with the after market one
Hey, maybe he just wants to keep a good eye on things. BTW I've got a '99 dime with the same layout, so: BUMP!
Go beyond the "bolt-on".
thanks for having my back Dimer. Thats one reason I want to see where my cars reving at.. and plus I want it for a visual im making my interior look like its a stick. and also do we honestly need a reason for every bolt on or attachment we get, come on everything we put on a car doesn't have a certain use alot of stuff is just for looks and appearance.

i never said its stupid....just asked why. you obviously have a good reason since your car didnt come with one. where are the coil packs at (im not that familiar with the 2.2).....you said you were looking underneath your car for the wires? i think your best bet is to get a chilton and look at the wiring diagrams.
I was just posting that, I have been a member for quite some time now and I have seen so many people posting up questions and sometimes there would be some people in there pretty much stating that they are dumb or so and so. So I was just trying to clear up my reason for wanting one and also going ahead and agreeing with those people before they start putting those uncalled for replies on here. But the coil pack is right in the back of the engine above the transmission pan so its hard to see the coil pack from underneath and hard to see from above I tried to use my cell and take pics but that still really didn't help. Only way i know i could get down there fast to see what im dealing with is taking off the TB, Intake, a couple other things but thats just alot of work.

Genuine example of a ricer.
Putting things on your car to make it "look" like it's something that it's not, bad.

Guys, could we please just answer the original question so those who want a tach for functional reasons can just get on with it?
Go beyond the "bolt-on".
Thanks Dimer
ok I have something to ask you ION C2 if making a automatic shifter look like a manual shifter is being a ricer because its not a manual isn't making a cavalier with a sunfire rear end or sunfire front end a ricer too???? You know because its not a sunfire. Because a majority of the people on her swap the rear/front end of a cavy with a fire or the other way around and no one has said anything to them. I personally have no problem with anybody doing that plus when your working on your car or fixing it up are you trying to make it like what others want it to look like or are you trying to make it what you want it to look like.
Please get back with me on that C2 because if its for others just let me know i'll send you pics of my car and you can tell me what to do next. or you can tell me what to take off.
And yeah, Can we get back to the question which is where is the signal wire on a cavy 2.2 automatic I know its where the coil is but its hard to see with a transmission pan in your way. the wire has to be somewhere else though all wires go somewhere so there should be an easier way to access the wire.
Thanks for all the comments though
