RANDOM MISFIRE!?

I need help!

I checked other posts but this is for a 00 2.2, the other post were for 2.4 and the ignition is different.

My car is randomly misfiring. It is only doing it under load, not at idle. It is leaning out when this happens, but my exhaust creates a thick white smoke and smells like straight gas. I replaced the plugs and it is still doing it. My old plugs had normal wear on them, like a brown color. All of the wires are getting power at idle. Im hoping that it isnt the headgasket! I just put a new cometic on it about 6 months ago. Any ideas, any way to test the wires and packs before spending money on new ones, I have money set aside but its for tuning, I dont really want to touch it!

Sounds to me like the problem is you are running un tuned....which probably means you are BOOSTING untuned, hence the lean misfire...not good...why dont you spend the money you have set aside for tuning....on tuning.

Then go from there.

20psi untuned with 650cc injectors, you must have huge brass ones. I think thats your problem.

Im not at 20 psi yet and the injectors arent installed, thats the plan. This happens when im not even boosting, my wastgate is only set at 10 psi for now but this happens just when I put a load on the engine! I have to fix this to drive it to the tune shop! I read about a cracked coil pack, could that be it. I think I will start it up tonight in my garage with my lights off, and see if its jumping wires or from the coil pack!

White smoke is typically coolant. Do you have coolant or oil lines running to your turbo? Could be a seal inside leaking, otherwise I'd check the head gasket. If you swapped an eco into it your coolant could be leaking into your oil under the front cover.

Otherwise you may have a sticky injector and your flooding the engine.

Not sure why it would only happen under load tho.

I dont have an eco swap, just a ln2. I have a big 16g with an oil and coolant line going through it, but that is after the engine and a blown seal there would just blow smoke not cause the engine to bog down and misfire. The white cloud smells like gas not like coolant! I also might take off my manifold and see if there is excess moisture coming out of a cyclinder before pulling the head. Couldnt I also stick a cotton swab through the spark plug port and whipe the piston head to check for coolant? I need this fixed asap so I can get it tuned. This is the third little blip since I put it on the road! The others were easily fixed, just fouled plugs and air in my coolant system, but Im stuck on this one!!!!!
