Okay so i know this has been talked about here and there but i'm getting mixed answers and hope someone can set this straight for me. So i have the prothane lower mount and the trans mounts installed right now and my car vibrates a LOT below 2000 rpm. Will the ttr upper mount make the vibes less or more noticible? in another thread they said getting all the mounts makes the vibes better... but if you are putting a harder mount on wouldn't that just add even more vibs through the chassis and into the cabin? i guess i just don't see the logic unless the different materials, urethane and rubber are causing a really weird harmonic imbalance by flexing at different rates. Anyway point is: will adding the solid upper mount increase or decrease the vibes?

I have the TTR upper and lower mount, and I made a solid tranny mount. Car shakes but my engine doesnt move. Are you doing this for a performance purpose or just to say you have different mounts. I have done many different upgrades but all for the purpose of performance, if you want better performance vibration shouldnt matter! Just my thought! But an example, when im at idle, my steering wheel shakes around about 3/8".
it might help balance things out but it wont eliminate the vibes. I have an auto but i have all solid mounts and its not that bad unless im at idle, but if i pop it in neutral it barely vibrates. the vibes SHOULD go away as soon as you hit the throttle.
I'm doing it for performance I am just confused because other people are saying it reduces vibration and i can't see how it will. To be honest the vibrations don't bother me at all but they really bother other people that ride in my car that i care a lot about, and if its going to become unbearable for them for the little added benefit of one more mount, then i'd rather go a different direction until the car is no longer a daily driver. But 3/8" is a lot of shake, i noticed you have an auto and since you have a turbo i'm assuming you are tuned, did you not raise your idle or is it just that bad for you? mine's nothing like that so far, granted i have prothane trans mounts opposed to solid, no tilt wheel and a manual car... And as it is right now my engine already doesn't move more than a centimeter when i rev it.

I'm not looking to eliminate the vibrations. i just don't want to add a boatload more for no much improvement in performance.

why do the passengers complain?? is it making noise when it shakes? the driver is the only one who should FEEL the vibes since your holding the steering wheel.
if I were you i would just get the insert for $15 and if it makes it worse, take it out and youve only wasted $15
oh you have an eco.....do they make upper inserts for the eco>?
I have an eco, its a solid mount with a big bushing. And its the whole car that shakes not just the steering wheel, plus constant mild vibrations through both seats. actually i don't really notice it through the wheel as much as hearing it through the door panels, b pillar panel, etc. and ya i guess just trying it and seeing is the best i was just wondering. but ya over 1500 to 2000 rpm its smooth. and at idle its not bad at all but take offs it practically gives off a death rattle. I will say this its gone down CONSIDERABLY since they have been worked in a bit. when i first got the mounts the car was pretty loud.

Harder mounts will not reduce vibrations. However one hard mount with one soft mount could technically cause more vibrations because the mass is moving further.
I have the lower and now have them all including trans. I consider it a cheap massage...

I didnt realize the the L61 had so much more vibrations.....that sucks. hope it works out for you

Thats a bad assumtion. I know he isn't tuned, or at least wasn't a couple days ago. A lot has to do with the design of the mount as well, but mixing rubber & poly is probably not a good idea, becaue you have a weak link, where all the motion is transfered to, since it is the only place that can really move.
I have heard VERY good things about the TTR solid mount, and that it handles vibration BETTER than the standard poly inserts.
It is going to still vibrate though. But it should not be as noticable, especially since you are a manual, and will be idling higher with no load....
you're right i shouldn't have assumed. i read his profile after and saw that too. i hope you are right about it just being a weak link. i will have to just see how it goes and if its horrible then i don't know. maybe i should change the lower from the prothane to the ttr? oh well thanks for the advice all but basically what it boils down to is i will just have to give it a go and see if its worth it to me. thanks for the input.
