engine mounts

So am am looking at getting some stiffer engine mounts for my car and have been looking at RK sport and turbo tech racing. I notice both sell the engine mount insert for the 2.4 but am not sure if its for the upper mount and wonder how much of a difference it makes...I know turbo tech has a solid upper mount but I'm not sure if I want to go that extreme...also, I noticed turbo tech has some of their own lower mounts and rk sport mounts...the rk sport one is quite a bit cheaper than the turbo tech one and am wondering if both work about the same or one is better than the other...if someone has some experience with different mounts I would be interested in what works...right now I am thinking about the engine mount insert and the rk sport lower mount...not sure if they are any good, so any help would be awsome.

if you dont want to extreme just go with the rk sport upper insert and the rk lower mount.

the TTR lower mount was designed to provide less vibrations than the RK one, up to you if you want to spend a little more and have less vibrations. i speak from experience with two cars, one a 5spd and one and auto when i say the vibrations are not an issue with the rk lower and rk upper insert, but thats just me... it does vibrate more then stock but nothing so un-bearable you cannot stand it.

different people dont mind and others think its horrible...

Riddle me this... riddle me that...

Is there a lot of difference in vibration between the rk sport and turbo tech lower engine mounts...it there is a significant difference I would go for the TTR one, but for more than double the price it would have to be a big difference...not too worried about vibration but if people find the TTR lower mount better I'd probably go with that

The vibration issue was suposedly far more noticeable on the auto trans. The TTR mount is different with a bigger bushing, shape, metal used, ect. but for you I would reccomend the RK Sport one. The RK one is much cheaper and both will hold your engine firmly in place.

I went with the TTR upper insert and lower dog bone combo (I don't have any experience with the RK Sport mounts). However, I can confirm that you'll definitely notice the vibrations below 1000 RPM with the automatic trans (she'll rattle your dash but it's nothing too insane).

In response to your second sentence the insert is the for the upper mount and to swap it out you'll need to detach your coolant reservoir, support your engine with a jack (easiest spot is to the engine side of the dog bone mount) and remove the full upper mount assembly from your inner fender. To do both upper and lower mounts it should take around 30 minutes.

As a side note you'll probably want to replace your two M12 mount bolts (they should cost you around $12-$16). Mine we're in pretty rough shape and I ended up breaking one in the mount... which royally sucks. In any case; yes, you can apply enough torque with a small breaker bar and yes, it's fixed now with a grinder, drill, easy out and tap.

This will save you a lot:

Also the lower aluminum mount, which is about double the RK Sport one, is 100% CNC machined from 6061 air craft grade aluminum and have a very unique bushing design, eliminating movement yet keeping vibrations down.
