Hey guys i was searching the site and i could not find any thing i needed. So i want to swap my 2.2 to 2.4 in my 96 cavalier so far i know i need a transmission. So if any one could email me a list of stuff i would need it would really be appreciated.

Hey, I did the exact swap.. But my 2.2 was a 97.. You need the following.

2.4 engine(duh)
Engine mount lower cradle
transmission
transmission mount
2.4 upper and lower radiator hoses
96-99 wiring harness.
Passenger side axle, you can use your drivers side axle from your 2.2
Guage cluster that has a Tach on it

I may of missed something.. but not sure.

ok thanks man and my 96 does have a tach on it so i wont need that. As for the wiring harness it will be the one from the 2.4 car?

just curiousity, y do you need a cluster with a tach in it? im doing this swap myself but i wasnt aware of that part of it

Well, you dont HAVE to have a tach, but why not want one since your getting a 2.4 engine?

ah ok lol. the way you said it it sounded like u had to have it. i was like huh?! thats retarded lol. no i have one, just not the factory one that came in the cluster

uh idk if there is or not, but id search about it. there shouldnt be much to it. again like i said im in the process of doing this i have not done it yet. but everythings just take out the old stuff, and replace it with other stuff. all the 2.4 stuff should go into the engine bay just like it would have came out

I have an 1997 2.2 ohv that i just blew and i wan t to do some sort of swap. I think i might just the the z24 engine. I wanted the lsj but seems like its going to be hard. What year can the 2.4 be? I was thinking of getting an 2000 and up for the supercharger. what do yall think?
