Just wondering because my dad has a turbo set-up in a Xtreme S-10. And he was kind of wondering if anyone else has done it.

Might wanna ask that on an S-10 forum.

Yeah, but if they need information on a Ecotec engine this is possibly one site they would be a member of.

i doubt it. most people that swap engines in S10's go for V8's. it would be interesting to see though.

If I were going to swap an engine into an S-10 I would definitely go for a turbo eco

the colo and solstice trans are the only 1's , and i think they are the same trans too

ive never seen a eco swap in a s10/15

there is a company who makes and adapter plate for the eco to run a t5 trans, I saw the link in a topic in the other cars forum. It was from a website that did older cars from the 30's-50's and they had products for swapping modern 4's into cars.....I cant remember the name of them though sorry

what?

its just an engine.. layout doesn't matter.. especially for inlines. some custom motor mounts and a trans adapter plate and you're done. if a v8 will fit, the eco will fit with little hassle.

He chose to put a Ecotec in it because he wanted to be unique. Everybody and their brother has put a V8 in a S-10. Its a pretty quick truck, its street legal and runs 10's.

No way.....SBC 350 ftw in a S-10 big time....reliable, straight forward, no difficult tuning issues.....theres no way somebody in their right mind with all the v8 swap info out there would waste time in putting a turbo eco in a s-10. Or rather at least shouldn't but theres always some people that miss the boat tho, maybe to be unique or "whatever" but if I heard a s-10 growling when pulling up I'd think it is way better than the s-10 with a blow off, just doesn't belong on a truck. To help those people who think I'm talking crap on the eco, the same goes for the almighty quad aswell

I talked to a guy recently who was wanting to do the same swap. He was just wanting to do a 2.2 ecotec in place of his 2.2. He wasn't looking for huge power gains. He just wanted good reliability and economy with a little more power. I thought it would be neat for an economy swap. If I were going for performance, it would be an LS2.

As a member of this board & s10planet.com (<-Not a link!), I can say clearly that there is interest there amongst members in swapping an Eco-tec into a dime. Which actually makes sense in this day of skyrocketing fuel prices. But I'm getting off track...

Aaron: That turbo setup on your dad's Xtreme isn't much surprise, as there's a place called turbos10.com (<-Again: Not a link!) that varying levels of LN2 (2.2L/2200)parts, build-ups & complete turbo'd LN2 engines capable of producing up to 600hp for for the S-truck (No lie!). That may be how he got his.

As for the Eco-tec/S-truck idea, there I'll be relaying what I heard here back to the other forum as there's still no clear answers to this question there either.

And before I go (For now)...

JUCINBST: Was the the name of the site Quad4Rods by chance? Because from what I've seen there before, that adapter plate definitely sounds like something they would have. I bet it could also be used with the Metric-pattern 4L60E automatic just the same.

Lol The engine parts on my dads truck are FAR from bolt-ons. My dad personally knows Russ O'Blenes from GM Racing, Ray Bates from Bates Engineering, and Dave from FAST who now works for GM Racing.

For the record: I was right in my guess, quad4rods.com does have the Eco-tec/T-5 bellhousing that was mentioned here.

Aaron: Cool. Wish I had connections like that.
