O2 SIMULATOR REALLY WORKS!!!!!
Wednesday, May 14, 2008 12:38 PM
I bought a rear o2 simulator from AFTER THOUGHTS AUTO for my 00 2.2 cavalier. I just got it inspected last week and all of the monitors passed except 2, but in NY thats all you need. My car passed without a catalytic converter or a rear o2 sensor! your car will not even throw the check engine light! I know you can get hptuners to aleviate this too, but its is a cheap fix for people who have bad cats or just want some extra hp. Just thought I would let everyone know!

Ok, I've been looking around for something I could do.
A friend told me his bro was using one in an RSX-S with sucess.
He also told me that others with the same setup had CELs after 100 miles or so.
Can you elaborate on what you did exactly to make it work?

I have been using a casper one for years with no problems. it just looked like a lil black box with a flashing LED and some wires connected to a connecter running out of it.

so far I have no CEL and I have my factory O2 sensor after the test pipe and before the resonator so (knock on wood) hopefully I am good I have about 120 or so miles on my exhaust (lsj pacesetter header 2.25" piping from header back with a test pipe thrush glasspack and magnaflow muffler). I do have the antifoulers though just incase

Oh, just put a cat on it. Put an 02 on it. If for some reason they find out you messed with emissions you can be fined several thousand dollars. So... just go get a new cat and a o2 for like $350 and be happy.

And another thought... the catalyst ineffeciency code doesnt send the car into limp mode. Your not picking up any power by 'lieing' to the pcm. Go get a high flow cat so that you can actually gain something.

I HAVE NO CODES AND IT HAS BEEN RUN OVER 1000 MILES. ALL YOU DO IS UNPLUG THE REAR O2 SENSOR, AND THEN PLUG THIS IN, NO WIRING NEEDED, JUST PLUG AND PLAY!

I have a 2001 2.2 with no cat, haven't done anyything to it, stock sensors, and and car run's great with no check engine light.

JASON, how long has your car been running with no CEL's. Your downstream sensor needs to read different than your upstream, or a CEL will throw. You either haven't run a complete cycle on your ECM, or your full of

would this also eliminate the ld9 light?

the simulator works to a point.. its not correct though, and if you run with it on, your car will think that its not going anywhere (you will have the same output from your injectors) so you will not be utilizing your cars potential. the o2 sensor doesnt only help with emissions, it guides your ecm' s ability to change fuel flow according to real world data thereby creating more power - and when your obd2 sets a fault code it does run in a diagnostic state until it can pass its own test (programmers allow you to change the variables allowed)

brandon, your wrong, im boosting 6psi under a stock fuel map anf 65psi at the rail supporting stock injectors and my a/f is fine, just where it whould be! however when im tuned, with my 650cc.'s I will be hitting 20 psi!

I guess I'll try the de-fouler with the stock exhaust with cat as an experiment prior to header install.
From what I gather, the simulators don't work for our engine, but the de-fouler does in a lot of cases.
If it throws codes in stock format with a cat, my best guess is it will if it has none.
I'll give feedback when I try it.
