I have a 2000 Z 24 2.4L and im looking to put some money into it for performance. I havent decided which way i could get the most power and speed. Should i swap my 2.4 for a (04-06 2.2 ecotec); or should i rebuild my 2.4 and add a super charger? id appreciate if people who did both or are more informed on how to get my cav running to its expectations.

The 2.4 and eco motors put out almost the same amount of power so I think swapping to an eco would be a waste a money. For the amount of money it would cost you to do a swap you could just put that money into the 2.4 and have one kickass engine.

Rebuild+Turbo

Rebuild+Nitrous

Rebuild+Supercharger

Personally I am a turbo guy, but do what you want.

This is true...both enines with the GM s/c have similar performance...like already said, it would cost a bit to do the swap so you could just put that money in the 2.4....I have a 2000 z24 with the m45 s/c and I have nothing bad to say about it...its running great and the car seems to be handling it good...the one thing I am really looking into now is alky injection...and the s/c kit for the 2.2 eco is more expensive than the LD9...got mine for $1498 from pace performance and I think the 2.2 eco s/c from them is around $2600 or a little more.

The SAAB kit will not work on the LD9 2.4L. It only fits the 2.2L ecotec, cuz the engine your getting the kit from is a 2.0L ecotec. The best way for you to go if you want to be turbocharged, is to peice together your own turbo kit.

What budget are you trying to work around on this project??

I would agree with what has been stated so far....ld-9 and eco's have pretty similar power, might as well keep what you got, and go from there.

X2^ from what ive learned here on the org, the real main advantage for the eco is that you can find parts for them everywhere it seems like...but either way you decide to go they're both good running motors..good luck man!
