hello folks.
i am trying to do some research for my girlfriends car.
1997 pontiac sun fire 2.2l engine auto tranny.
now i tried researching on the 2.2 as far a performance goes. but it doesn't seem like alot of ppl go for these 2.2s. they seem to like the ecotec version or the 2.4 twin-cam.
is there any performance oriented item that can make this 2.2 give you a ride for your money?
now im not talking race car fast, but being able to keep up with most bolt on honda's on the street?...
i went on your search engine but could not find any type of info on what is required for this swap aside from ppl telling others to check the FAQ sticky on the performance section... which i did but most of those links are dead. now aside from the obvious.
pedal assembly. for 5spd swap.
engine
trans
clutch
flywheel
starter
pcm
engine harness
mounts
thats all i can think of the obvious stuff.
i am honestly interested in these j-body vehicles.
a friend of mine had one saying he did some cam swap or something like that to his 2.4 twincam and he said he was very happy with the performance.
so id like to see what these things can do.
can anyone hook me up with a link to a full parts list. and maybe a write up on some one doing this swap.
im fully capable of doing all this work.
i just need to be pointed in the right direction as far as parts go.
thanks in advance everyone.
Turbocharging is very popular with the LN2 guys that aren't restricted by special race rules. And use "Search".
Go beyond the "bolt-on".
ok i checked with site that made turbo kits for the ln2.
obsolete.
so back to the main question.
swapping the 2.4l twincam that came in the gt's/
what needs to be done?
i searched for write ups. couldnt find any
What site? I meant look around here!
Go beyond the "bolt-on".
Get port and polish, and then turbocharge. Best bang for buck with the ln2. It will definitly keep you up to most of the honda boys around. Best idea for a turbo kit is to peiece it together yourself. Get some parts off cars in junkyards, the talon tsi is a good car to get a turbo from. @ ~7 PSI, you will not have to worry about the internals of the ln2 with that turbo. If you get a P&P, and the turbo from a talon, a 14.5 is an easy target at 7 psi.
