No more Griffin????
Sunday, June 29, 2008 8:28 PM
Hey guys. As most of you know I have been selling Griffin thermal products by GP for a while here on the org. As of late there service hasn't been the greatest. They have mixed up orders, sent out incorrect orders, and as of a few weeks ago taken a huge spike in price with no response as to why. I wanted to post about this to find out everyones thoughts on this because you are the people that buy and use the products I sell. So heres the thing. Do to the issues stated above I'm planning on switching to a different carrier. I still plan to offer thermal product for the J body platform but will probably go through AFCO or C&R Racing to do so. Please everyone voice your opinion about the change.

Thanks,

have you looked into doing anything with becool.com? my friend showed me their site a few days back and it looks like they do alot of custom things with polished radiators and fans, etc etc...

How is this going to effect us who have their products already? I saw the post in the last GP about the fans not fitting for the duals. I haven't bought mine for the single one yet and am now scared to because of that issue.

Here's the spec sheet for the single fan if you wanted to get the measurements before you ordered.

I just measure the radiator, and I dunno man... For the top holes I was getting something like slightly larger spanning than 7.5" I will order it and will see.

The top mounting holes on the 14" fan is a 7.52" span based on the spec sheet, so you should be OK.

You will be ok for the single fan mounting Cody.. Mine measured up fine and fit fine, I even had to slide it over towards the drivers side a bit to clear 1 of my charge pipes..

I also thing you should look into BECOOL Scott..

I think this community is interested in high quality products at low quality prices....

I am very happy with the rad i ordered from you, the only problem that occured with mine was it had the fittings for the auto. but fitment was top notch, and packaging was great. it arrived in great shape.
of course i did order in the first GP.

you find a place that will make a top notch product, and stand behind it like griffin will, id buy.

I really thank you all for the support in the past, along with the support you are showing now. It really means alot.

I will look into BeCool for sure. I honestly do not believe I would be able to offer then at an affordable or competitive price, but I will check. Maybe we will get lucky.

As for the AFCO and C&R Racing choice. I'm really looking at C&R. Not only would I be able to offer high quality product but it would open the doors for SpeedLabMotorsports to bring many other products into the J world.

Anyways, everyone keep an eye out. We will get this fixed and be back up soon.

Thanks Guys,

I found one brand new on Ebay, for like $117 shipped so I snagged it. Should be here weds i think it said and i'll find out then for sure.

Like john said above is true about J-owners wanting good parts for cheap prices. I will side with him and say If you keep getting us quality parts like these radiators, and the companies back them, I'll keep buying if i have a use for them. I got laughed at for buying a 400+ dollar radiator, but I know its quality and Griffin is a big name company known by all.

I'm glad I can be one of the 30 or so J owners on here or hell in the country rocking a custom 1.5" core radiator.

Thanks scott.

Well I just got my SPAL fan. The holes are maybe 1/16th- 1/8th off on top and bottom. Its very minimal and I still should be able to thread a screw in and it will pull itself in place. SO they don't have their measurements 100% but coming from the fabrication point of view since I do it as well, i'll see that as acceptable.

Anyone know what pigtail connects into the Spal fan connector? Mine just came with the fan and the female connector, no male with loose wires..

Well the griffin radiator without the tranny cooler is $450 plus S&H.
Im getting one made by wizard cooling because they are about 30
minutes away from my house and its $500. Also they are going to
make me a custom over flow catch can when I get the money.

I have been informed by a couple people that griffin uses epoxy
on their cores.

The one I am getting is fully braised, it is getting a 1/8 npt bung for
aftermarket temp sensor, and the drain on the interior side of the engine,
because with an intercooler, external tranny cooler, and oil cooler, I
cant get to my stock drain location!

There number is 716-655-6760
and they are located in south west NY.
