Im getting ready to start rebuilding a 2.2 OHV. It's for a 1/4 mile round track. Everything is supposed to be stock but I know I will have to do some performance things to keep up as everybody does not follow the rules... Also the imports are leaving the domestics way behind. Any advise on building or any kind of performance mods that would give some hp would be appreciated... Thanks in advance for all answers.

Go beyond the "bolt-on".
Port and polish the head, you can gain quite a bit there. Plus, knife edging and polishing the counterweights will subtract some weight off the rotating assembly, but get it balanced afterwards. If you're running a stock bottom end, might want to polish the beams on the rods. do that before the balance as well. I know Karo at CarCustoms sells a set of 1MM OS valves, that will gain some. Possibly an overbored throttle body...just a few ideas...
