ok i wanted to get a little more hp out of my car i dont have anything performance done on it yet i have a 00 cavy withe the 2.2 single cam i was thinking of shaving the head to get a little more compression and buying some obx headers to kinda balance things out and at the same time get a little more power. but i was not sure how much i could shave off of the head i wanted to see it anyone had an idea. thanx
with the money it costs to shave the head and do it right you could buy an intake and an intake to go with those headers would probably be a nice little touch
do not recommend you take a dremel to your head...
you shave the head you're going to have issues with pushrod length.
not to mention, i think you'd be severely disappointed with the results.
don't do it. buy bolt on parts if anything, shaving the head is not a good idea on that engine.
ok i have the intake and i was not going to do it with a dremel its not possible it has to be machined i just wanted to see if anyone had an i dea of how much clearence i have between my pistons and my valves when they r open all the way and see how much i could shave my head. and as bolt ons what else can i actually bolt on other than the header
um you can do the 1.6 roller rocker conversions, Header, Hi Flow cat, better flowing muffler. Why would you shave the head though? That isn't going to gain really anything. You'd probably be better off taking the head off. Get it ported and polished with a good cam. In which you'd probably gain more power than shaving the head. With a good tune though.
when i said about the header i also meant like the whole exhaust i did not mention it though ha. well by shaving the head i would get a higher compression wich will give me a little more torque and by putting the header and the cat and exhaust will balance that out. i do agree on the roller rockers and on the cam where is it that i could get those two from what brand. i also plan on doing the port and polish i do agree in that wich i was going to do when i shaved the head.
. Proform roller rockers
http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=PRO%2D66915&autoview=sku . Arp studs

Those rockers are suppose to be just as good as the others out there but cheaper. They come in a set of 16 but you only need 8 and could sell the other 8 or something. You also need the studs from what i gather. If you want more info use the search button and type 2200 roller rockers or something similar as to there is a post with all the info you need. Plus different brands and such.
As shaving the head i don't think you can even shave enough on a 2200 head to see alot of improvement or a enough of a compression jump. I wouldn't bother at all myself as to i would think if you shave enough off you might have timing problems like the chain being to long. plus short pushrods. Honestly listen to the others they are here to help you and as they stated it basically isn't worth it.
I would save my money from getting the head shaved and get hptunners and tune your self.
Now as for cams i have no idea do a search i know if you go to big on a cam you will have to change the valve springs. Not sure what lift the stock 2200 springs max as to i haven't read that info for awhile.
ah ok cool well it was just an idea that i had but was not sure if it was possible or worth it. as for the rockers i have heard of that simple mod but have not really looked into it enough but thanx for the info
