Need some help...
Friday, July 25, 2008 3:11 PM
HI, I cant seem to beat any of my freinds in 1/4 mile races and i need some help, of course i wasnt expecting to beat them but i really want to. i lost to a cavalier z24 with a megan racing cannon on it, a stock dodge stratus rt and a monte carlo ss stock as well. the monte was the closest(only approx. a hood) . i own a 97 z24 completly stock. im willing to spend around 400$. My question is will a catback exhaust and a cold air intake make my car fast enough to beat them all? by the way the stratus beat me by quite a bit (prolly 2 cars) but its stock and all the cars are auto even mine. any help will be appreciated.

catback won't do much. full exhaust system may help. $400 won't get you too far either.. check out the sticky in the top of this forum

try to keep it on a track.

yea but its not going that fast its only up to 84ish in the quarter we dont go any further than the quarter, as soon as we hit the mark we slow down. but if i remove the system and do what i said i can do maybe i could get some headers as well. will i have a chance against the stratus rt?

its not like its an everyday thing its barely ever happens actually. this is not about were we found out that i cant beat them this is about how i can beat them. plus around there the closest track is brainerd mn and i think it costs money, something i dont want to spend on racing a stock cavalier. if it gets locked then thats kind of dumb because all i did was ask for help on performance and didnt bring up where the race happened until some one address it.

Exactly as he said it's stupid. No one asked where you were racing at. All he said was try to keep it at track. In which all you would have had to say was it is at the track. But no you had to say that you were with spotters on some road. Well you know what it's illegal to do and if the cops don't want to do something to you and yours buddy's before you or them kill some1. Then so be it but i likely doubt anybody will help someone to be even stupider and faster.

You can "defend" your "safe" street racing till your blue in the face. No one is going to acknowledge your points.
