ok i have done my 2000 2.4 5 speed swap in my 99 sunfire that had a 2200 in it. Just one problem i can't get a hold of a 5 speed harness for a 97 to 99. I can get a 99 computer but thats it. There has been a few one here e-mailed me saying they had one but never got back with me. One went by boom boom (boom) other was Daniel Boyd (importkilla32) so if anyone knows how to get in contact with them i would appreciate it.
Other wise i guess i'm stuck using a auto harness and yes i tried car-parts.com. So what all needs changed on the harness for the 5 speed? Do i need any plugs? If so where can i get them. I really want to here it at least start sometime soon. Also i searched and found some things but not a lot. thanks
on a 2000 you will have a VSS and a reverse light thats it
you can't find a 5spd harness at any wrecker i find that hard to believe
is its an 00 motor you wont want a 97 harness it will have EGR and the knock sensor is different yo will want a 99+. think the only thing different in 99 was the injector plugs, just get a 00 5spd harness and run it
make sure your EVAP is in the back on your car not sure if the 2.2 in 99 was back there or in the fender, if its at the back it should just plug in and run

ok i was not lying about the harness no1 in my area had one at all. But finally found a 97 harness and computer. Also from my understanding to use the 2000 up harness i would have to switch the interior also. Which i don't really want to do.
I know the 97 harness has egr but i could always have it turned off in the 97 pcm or use the 99 pcm as to i can get it. O i can use the egr off another 2.4. I have a 96 2.4 too and i know about the injectors. Done switched them and the rail and also i know bout the knock sensor.
And on a 99 the evap is in the rear.
just use the auto harness you have, im runnin an auto harness, u just wont use any of the auto trans plugs. just need to wire up the clutch safety, it will be the purple and yellow wires in the big round plug that went to the auto tranny. other than that you will be fine.
i went from a 2200 4 speed auto to 2000 2.4 5 speed. That was the only harness i had. I couldn't find a 5 speed harness at all so i was going to use a auto harness and 5 speed computer. But i found a 5 speed harness finally so its all good now. Thanks for clearing it up though.
