Stock 1/4 miles times

So I took the 04 ecotec out to the track last weekend. It is a stock 04 cavalier w/ a manual tranny and crappy tires. With the spare removed and a 240 lbs guy driving (that me), my best pass was 16.35. And that was with a 0.42 reaction time and no traction in first and the start of second gear. I think thats not bad. With a good set of tires it would be well down into the 15s. lol. I even beat a saleen focus by almost a full second. The guy was very pissed. lol.

You stomped a Saleen Focus with a stock 04 Cavalier?
Was it reaction time you beat him or was your car actually faster?

Maybe he has a WAI, just kidding.

Once I "learned" the way my car was I always ran consistent 15.2-15.4's stock.

No, his reaction time was within .05 of mine. It looked like it was going to be a good race at first and then I really started to pull away. That was the first time I had had this cavalier out to the track. If I could get my wheel spin down, I think I could get even faster passes.

Yeah like 60' and 1/8 and such like the whole shebang. My 04 ran mid 15's first time out, but then again not my first cav. Eventually got the 04 n/a down to 14.8. If you're running 16's you should highly consider learning how to drive the car. That seems to be the issue. The only way to get good at racing at the track is racing at the track.

<15 sec in the 1/4 for a 2.4 jbody is pretty darn good when you consider what sort of other cars are in that bracket. Absolutely stock with nothing gutted out? Props man. This is obviously at sea level too....

I ran a 15.4 first time out launching at 3500rpms. With my mods now and and a halfway stripped car I pull 14.5s consistently and my best being a 14.3. My best friend in his old cav did a 14.3 virtually stock with only an intake, 14inch steelies, removed headlight for intake access, and a 5000rpm launch. That tranny was toasted 3 passes later. And I mean the tranny not the clutch.

Unless you are running below sea level, that ain't happening, not naturally aspirated anyways...

And I know how to drive my car really well.

The biggest issue was they wouldn't let me line up in the grove. I couldn't get any traction because of it. Had I been able to line up in the grove I could have run at least a little faster. And I do not how to drive my car. I have been racing at the track with my old cavy and my 77 nova for a long time. It was also a nice 98 degree day with about 90 % humidity at 2130 feet above sea level. All in all not the best condition for running the car. I will have to try and find my slips so I can post the rest. I am planning on going back and running again in a month of two when it cools down a little. And just to give you and idea about how bad it was the only four cylinder that beat me all day was my roommates heavily moded SVT Focus and he only beat be by .42 seconds.
