I would like to find a header for my 1993 2.2L OHV, but all I can seem to find are for 1995 and newer. Checked all of the usual sources.
Sorry if this is been asked before (I searched and couldn't find it), does anyone know where I can get a header for my 93? Or, if by chance a newer one will fit?
im pretty sure the 93 head is the same head as the 95-97 head. the rest of the exhaust however, i cant say for sure. so, a header for a 95-97 should bolt to your head, but you may need a whole new exhaust.

You are correct, sir!

hi, what does "you may need a whole new exhaust" means? I have a 1992 2.2, same as 1993 right?, so that header will work for me too right? thanks.

Hey, thanks for the responses, and sorry for digging up the old post....I just want to make absolutely sure the 95-97 header will fit on my 93 2.2...I've talked to people at Schoenfeld and Pacesetter, and they can't confirm that the 95-97 will fit.
Not that I doubt any of the pros on here, but I would hate to spend $200+ and go to the trouble of taking my stock manifold off to find out that it don't work. Anyone have a published source or something else like that to confirm that the 95-97 will work? Thanks much.
Well, the head's the same... As for the EGR style, I can't say. If it's a setpper-motor type that got used on the '95, then no. If it's the vacuum diaphram type with the solenoid in-line to the manifold vacuum source then yes.

You may have to cut the last 6" off the downpipe and put a new flange on for the cat, but all the important stuff will work. The motors are the same, so it will bolt to the head, clear the starter, and run under the oilpan fine, but after that it may need to be modified (not a big deal at that point).

Cool, I race this car on dirt tracks so there is no issue with matching the header downpipe up to the stock exhaust system or cat, because the cat is gone and I just have a glasspack clamped in where it used to be.
This is a related question, but what kind of HP gain can I expect from swapping the the stock manifold out for a header? Keep in mind that the cat and stock exhaust are gone, so any restriction issues from them wouldn't apply here. As with everything in racing, it is always a $$$ vs. hp gain calculation. I've gone through most of the low $$$ stuff and now I'm looking for the next best $$$ to hp. improvement to do. So, it would help me out if I could get an idea of what kind of hp gain I can realistically expect from installing a header.
If it matters, the top end is all basically stock. I replaced the stock air intake box with a short ram, but the throttle body, head and block/pistons are all stock 2.2 OHV.
So, your class does not require your engine to appear stock then I take it? Maybe 5bhp (~3whp), but obviously nobody can tell you for sure.
A good mod for you may be a thinner headgasket (~.030") to bump compression and reduce quench distance.

The rules read "stock as manufactured", but it's one of those deals where the reality is in how the rules are enforced and what is permitted. As in, short ram intakes are permitted even though not stock, and headers are permitted.
