hEY i HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR A NEW MOTOR FOR MY 98 Z24,AND i CAME ACROSS WHAT I BELIEVE IS A 2.3 HO QUAD4 ATLEAST THATS WHAT THE GUY SAYS IT IS. hOW CAN I KNOW WHAT IT IS FOR SURE?WILL IT WORK IN MY Z? I HAVE THE TWIN CAM 2.4 NOW BUT ITS TOAST,WHAT PARTS WILL INTERCHANGE? I WAS TOLD I WOULD NEED THE ECM FROM THE 2.3,WHICH IS INCLUDED FOR THE $400 HE WANTS,AND HE WILL GIVE ME A WARRANTY TOO!!! PLUS HE WILL LET ME PAY HIM $100 BUCKS NOW AND TAKE THE MOTOR,PAY THE REST WHEN I CAN,ALMOST SOUNDS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE HUH? OH,HES ALSO CLAIMING THIS MOTOR PUTS OUT AROUND 175HP,IS THIS TRUE?

it can be done....but you better be on your game about what is what. Unless you're a bigtime quad 4 expert, which you obviously aren't I don't find it wise to undergo this project. It's illegal too, to drop an older generation engine into a newer car (although you likely won't run into any issues)

I was under the impression that the only main difference was the quad 4 has no cam sensor. Otherwise it bolts right in. You will of course need the intake and exhaust manifolds ant throttle body from the 2.3. The stock ecm might not enjoy the HO cams but the other 2.3 cams will let it work ok. Without the cam sensor you will have a check engine light.

you reall need to determine exactly which engine this is before you buy it..i know hes TELLING you one thing, but you dont know if hes correct...also i DOUBT the pcm hes trying to sell you is the correct one, if its the one that CAMEwith the engine it wont work....you want the pcm AND wiring harness from a 95 Z or GT...in 95 the Jbody came with a quad4..which makes that engine plug n play in your car.....first find out exactly which engine it is...we would need 1 pic and we could tell you
