alright since my motor is ticking, and i assume it needs a rod bearing, i might as well replace all four rods with a stronger setup, the problem is i cant find the rods for a 2.4, and i also cant find what bearings to use and where to get them anyone know? also the motor is just going to see close to stock power, will a good set of rods and bearings keep this motor reliable???? i ask this cause every 2.4 but this one that i have owned has thrown a rod or spun a rod bearing. what else should be done while the bottom end is open? and what else can i do to keep this motor from doing what the others have done?
Clevite77. You can get them pretty much anywhere... AutoZone, AAP, NAPA, eBay. Eagle rods you can find also on eBay, CarCustoms.net, etc.
Do the 2.3L oil pump swap and kiss your oiling issues goodbye.

i would have to get the rods balanced regardless of new or used correct? im not gonna install this myself as i dont have enough time to mess with it, would would the cost be around to do the rods and bearings? and the what would the cost of the 2.3 pump swap be? im looking at some threads on the oil pump swap, what what it run for a shop to do it for me. or well a ballpark figure?
All engine builders should balance the rotating assembly whether or not new or used. Bearings aren't that expensive, $60 I think is what I paid. The shop cost depends on the shop, it varies. My engine will be fully assembled for $700. Not sure if you can replace the rods and bearings without taking apart the top end too..
But I got a set of Eagle rods for ya.

are you sure your car spun a bearing?
ticking could mean a lifter, or even a fuel injector. rods normally go out because of the 2.4 oiling system... it sucks balls. the 2.3 pump swap would be a major upgrade. pistons are also a weak spot in the 2.4 bottom end, rods would outlast the pistons if it weren't for the oil pump.
if you're going for more power EVENTUALLY, then i would get new pistons while everything is opened up.
We have a great price on them and keep them in stock... WWW.TurboTechRacing.com

2.3 motor being the quad 4 right?
no do a dry sump oil pump and kiss your oiling issues behind. the 2.3 oil system still blows rod bearings
