eagle rods for ecotec

I just wanted to know if u can use the stock piston with the eagle rods, cause i know that gm had said the stock pistons can handle 300hp and that the rods are the weakest link, i know since its apart just replace the pistons any way, i just wanted to know if it could be done since they say they are replacment rods but in H-beam form.

You CAN use the stock rods but I wouldn't you'll end up blowing your ring lands before you hit 300HP, and if your already going to have the engine apart theres no reason to hold back.

Spend the $400.00 for wisecos now so you don't have to do the labor twice.

well i have a supercharger on the car already, i dotn plan to make any where near 300 hp i just wanna be on the safe side so i dont have to pull the motor again. and i'm planing to put a 3.0" pulley on the charger aw well so it would be best to just change the pistons out.

The weakest link is the @!#$ty piston rings not the rods.

2002 ecos are known to break rods.

in 2003 and up they're known to break ringlands (a WAY more survivable failure)

if you're doing the rods, do the pistons too. ESPECIALLY with the heat from a s/c. I broke a ringland and I was all motor.. (read: less than 200whp) so take that into consideration... granted I screwed up my tune and ran super lean, but thats not the point... rods and pistons together. always.

couldnt you just try to find some cobalt ss rods and pistons. a cheaper solution with a little more strength than stock

see with the coblat ss rods an pistons i would have to change the crank cause the cranks mains for the rods are bigger than whats on the cav, so the crank, rods and piston can be put in our ecotec but then its destroked to a 2.0 instead of a 2.2
