ok so im goin completely full out with my z24. i want w41 cams and i have a collopsed lifter anyways so what do i need for the swap and could someone get my w41 cams and what kind of lifters should i get stock or w41?
someone correct me if im wrong but i didnt think w41s worked in twin cams....i mean, as far as making them fit all you need is 2.3 cam towers, lifters, the cams, and either machine the intake cam for your PS pump or convert to the 2.3 pump
Luke tried it.. had to make a custom PS bracket... unless you cut and drill to use the ld9 ps pump.

yea i plan on gettin the intake cam machined.
Unless you do the oil pump swap you won't be able to really "use" them b/c a lot of the power will be above your oil pump's abilitis. And I am not sure about the clearance with stock pistons. But go for it.

alright then my next question. what all do i need for the oil pump swap and how hard is it?
i have everything at work to do it, besides the oil pan has to be moded...

I guss I am going to be the one to say it. SEARCH All this info has been covered multiple times, I know because I have read it all in researching my own build.

paul tried it, the 2.4 PS pump will not bolt on the 2.3 tower. so... its either buy nukkinfutz' custom braket that makes it so the 2.4 PS pump can be used on a 2.3 tower OR have the stock 2.4 lifters bores in a stock 2.4 tower bored out and sides clearancde wherever, if ever needed and run the w41 cam in the stock 2.4 tower.
Mantapart did it... OE LD9 lifters and cam towers, all they did was notch them out to fit.. cut away the outer edge.. take a HO cam and a lower LD9 cam tower, you will see what i mean.
But this is ONE of the many reasons i just went with a W41 to start with., leave alone the damn oil pump....

yea..its SOOO much simpler to just use the whole engine than to try to piece parts of it on to a 2.4..then you can actually work on modding it for MORE power..instead of just trying to catch up to a stock w41
Why stop at W41 cams?
ive never even heard what a W41 sounds like let alone something even more aggressive!

Clyde's car sounds awesome at idle. Its funny hearing a cavalier lope!!

Go Go OG Traction!!
Its quiet now. 2, 2.25" mufflers will do that, but it does still have some lope to it. HO's just werent enough.

I'm using 2.3L towers, the 2.3L power steering pump, and had a custom bracket machined to hold the pump. I'll try and get pictures.

.430/222 are nice. I can only imagine .450/232
Really hate to thread jack, but I need to replace my water pump. I have a set of used High Output cams sitting around that I would like to install while I'm at it. I have experimented with fitting the cams into a spare LD9 intake cam tower and it works well. I also have a stock LD9 cam to sacrifice for the hex drive. My questions are thus: Will notching the cam towers cause any abnormal wear on the top corners of the lifters? I have an auto with 186,000 miles on it. Anybody think I will have any dependency issues? Since the cams are used, should I replace the lifters as well, or just let it be? The only other flow modifications I have for now are an AEM Short Ram Air Intake and a high flow muffler. Would the power gains be worth the minimal effort? Please help; any and all educated opinions welcome.

i recommend using new lifters, others say its fine to use the ones that have been worn in on another cam (used). this is up to you.

Yes! The last time I inquired at AutoZone, they had all three variations of 2.3 Quad4 cams available for order for right around $100 a piece. (LO, HO, W41) However, I haven't ordered any to confirm the lift on the HO nor do I have the equipment readily available the verify duration on the W41 so I can't be absolutely sure...
z yaaa- do still happen to have the stock exhaust manifold and downpipe for your white Z24? I could use a spare for porting out...
We don't reside too terribly far apart and I have a few different 2.3 and 2.4 Quad4 parts for trade if you want. Or if you would rather have cash, that can be arranged as well.
