fully built 2.2/2200 turbo'd.
LD9 FTW!

really this is a never ending war, lol. SEARCH and decide on your own...nothing is plug and play, unless your keeping the same motor that is has.

you got me...lol, that was his (chris) problem from the first motor, lol, he is now in number 2...and i'm guessing soon to be 3? When you want to do it for real let me know and i will help you get it done "THE RIGHT WAY"

no "joe side job" who knows nothing (no offence to anyone chris got screwed big time last swap)...
IMO...if your going to go ecotec, buy one with an ecotec, nowadays around here, it would cost around the same then to do the swap....i can get you some cars cheap, call me...

LN2 (2200) for the leasons learned that you can apply to other engines later, and the fuel economy it'll get.
Go beyond the "bolt-on".
LS1 owns all.....
what!

And you would be right. It was the first time I had done a water pump on anything other than a small block Chevy.

My experience lies with teh LD9. I find them incredible simple to work on. The water pump failure is a problem for all the engines used in the J car, if you want to call it a problem.
My prefference is for teh LD9 or even a true Quad 4.
Yeah, I come from a musclecar background, so it took some getting used to the lack of torque, but its been fun, and you can't beat the handling.

...what car\engine are you talking about, lack or torque?

3800 supercharged out of a grand prix, or the 3400sfi out of the grand am will bolt up to the getrag tranny but if i were to chose a 4 banger id go with the ecotec or the LN2... Quad4 and 2.4twin cam are the most misrubal mechanical monstrosity's i have ever seen/had to deal with, i have an LN2 and i love it pretty much bullet proof im having ignition troubles now. cant decide weather i want to boost it or swap it for a 3400sfi and possibly boost that, good luck

The Quad 4 is one of the easiest motors to work on. People that claim they are hard to work on are either impatient or dont know what they are doing. I have worked on LN2, L61, LD9, and W41 and the LD9 and W41 were the easiest to do. They got a bad wrap for being hard to work on because of idiots not know what they were doing. I was intimidated the first time I opened one up until I realized just how simple they actualy are. I guess Im in the minority here but there are at least a few intelligent people out there that know better than what most say about the Twin Cam/Quad 4.
No, all the Tec's at my dealership love the old Quads, and say that once GM got it to the point that it was a worry free power plant, they traded up for the "next best thing".

hahaha same thing here..when i started at the gm dealership the guys asked what engine i had..i said quad(expecting to get laughed at ) but they all just kinda chuckled and said "good choice" said it was their favorite gm 4banger....was easy to work on,made them lots of money, and was FAST.
anyone who thinks working on a Quad family engine is hard really doesnt need to touch an engine.
