Should I replace the timing and balance shaft sets while rebuilding my motor...
Should I just get new guides only?
Tensioners also?
I am being a cheap ass and think I can reuse the tensioner and the chains
Anybody got part#s for a timing set or balance shaft set.
GM parts direct doesn't list them as a set.
Motor only has 35k mile and looks spotless inside.

you dont need to replace the timing and balances shaft set, replace the guides if they looked worn out, and the tensioner should be fine
we rebuilt ecotec at my work with over 100k kms and they only replaced the guides cause they had at lot of ware on them.
you can put in a set of gm performance balance shafts inplace of the stock ones.
I'm actually deleting the balance shafts all together...
good to know thanks.

can you really truely delete them
why r u rebuilding a 35k motor?
yes you can delete them. Level Zero sells a kit, that I'm currently running in my car.

gm also sells a balance shaft deletion kit, but they're harder to get a hold of than the neutral balance shafts.

You also have to fab your own blockoffs. They just sell you covers for the old bearings and a shorter chain. They were real dicks to me when I asked about the delete they assumed I had no idea what I was doing.
