Cherry Bomb resonator

K, so heres the situation, i have a ceramic pacesetter header, Magnaflow cat, and a Monza Catback with no resonator waiting to be installed. I have been reading up on exhausts so i am ready to install it with a co-worker. I have read that a resonator is almost a must for a 4 cylinder and it would cost me an hours labor at a local shop to put it on after everything else is on and i realize i hate the sound. So instead of taking that risk im going to get a resonator now. I cant seem to find what im looking for in canada but i have come across Cherry bomb glasspack mufflers. I have seen other people with a cherry bomb as a resonator and they say its awesome. Is the red fart cannon im seeing in the stores what they use as a resonator or does cherry bomb make resonators?

cherry bomb makes resonators...however I could not direct you to where you could fine one. My suggestion is to get a Magnaflow resonator but I am biased with my 22" long with 4" round body...

they have a glasspack. some places like advanced or oreilleys (sp) might have them, or you could order it from any store online.

I have 2 18" cherry bomb resonators in my exhaust. I got them off the shelf at Canadian Tire. Your looking for what most people would call a "bottle muffler" for a truck. Just make sure when you look through it that it has round holes in the inner pipe, not slanted louvres. the louvred ones are the ones that you would have to mount with the exhaust flowing the right direction for it to work.

A resonator is the exact same thing as a cherry bomb/ glasspack muffler. All your doing it putting it right after the cat instead of at the end of the exhaust.

K, thanks guys. I picked up my glass pack today. It says it is reversible but inside there is little scoops pointing in one direction. Which way should it be mounted as a resonator for the least back pressure and most rasp-decrease.

so the exhaust is caught by scoops and pushed through the glass packing

Cherrybombs are not preforated like a Magnaflow or Vibrant or Thrush

Reversible, yes. Equally effective when pointed the other way? No. Only those with the louvers punched outward from the center of the tube are truely non-directional. And they have a better flow-rate. However, inward-punched louvers do a beeter job of silencing. But they must face towards the source of exhaust (engine) to be effective.

Go beyond the "bolt-on".

is it true that these cherry bomb resanators quiet down the sound ALOT? also reduces raspeness? and make a much deeper sound?

Your cat converter will silence sound the most.

Then a decent long resonator,

And finally a nicly packed muffler.

I bought a cherry bomb 29" resonator ( really a muffler). It was 2.5" on both ends but when you look inside you realize that it bumps down to 2" inside. Waste of money and time and now I have this damn resonator in my closet that I can't give away.
