restart after a 1 1/2 years?

Here’s the background on the car it has 145000 miles 2.4 manual Trans 1997 cavalier Z24. I rebuilt the motor and when everything was put back together she started up and 2 seconds later died. I checked spark, theft system, etc., fuel delivery not fuel pressure, I put all four injectors in coke bottles to see if they were spraying and they was, but I couldn't figure out how to check the pressure. Now when I finally got the time to continue working on her I went to start her up engine rotates but the pump is dead. I believed before it was the pump b/c the black deposits on the plugs, strong gas smell coming from the throttle and gas smell in the oil but the pump was priming the system. Is it possible the pump was failing and pumping too much fuel? I know this isn't command with a fuel injected car but if not this then what???

if it sat for a year and half I'd start with dumping all the gas and starting with some fresh fuel.

Change the oil too or else you'll kill your bearings.

If it were me I would pull the plugs and squirt some oil into each cylinder, let it sit for a day then turn the crank over by hand. Then drain the tank, top it off with fresh gas, and oil change as stated above.

yeah, that's the plan but didn't think of squirting the oil into each cylinder, good idea thanks should have everything in but the weekend and see what happens
