I am building up my 2.4 and noticed that there was only one way to get to the balance shafts and that was to ruin the screen on the pump. Is there a trick to that? Is there a replacement??

Just call your local GM dealer. Thats what I did.
What do you mean get to the balanced shafts? When I rebuilt a 2.4 I never had to mess with that screen. What are you trying to do exactly?
