ok i have a 2002 cavalier with a 2200 motor.my question is how much power do u think i can get out of it if i go all motor?
now i was thinking about swapping a 2.4L engine in and goin all motor on that , headers, header back exhaust(2 1/3 inch piping), fi flow cat, pulleys, all that good stuff.. how much power can i get out of a 2.4 with bolts on ?
i was also thinking about going with individual throttle bodies, do you guys think its worth it?
N/a on a 2200 is a waste of time and money.....In all honesty port the head and do a simple turbo setup on it and call it a day. If you really want to swap go for it, you will make more power na on the 2.4 twincam and the 2.2 eco than you could with the ohv. It's all about how much you want to spend.......And I own both an eco and ohv cav so no bias here its just the truth.
you will def make more power by either boosting or swapping, our full race 2.2 n/a's are only putting out 200 whp and that is fully built on race gas
well if i boost my 2200 will it hold up so i will not have any problems with it?
lets say i port and polish the heads(which i doing ) and boost it with about 4 pounds , what will i have to do so i will not have problems and how much power do u think i will get?
i have 70000 miles on my car right now
Chris- the reliability of a low boost turbo setup is all in the tune, and it's not just about the lbs of boost you have to look at the airflow your going to push through the motor. You could blow your motor up on 2lbs or 15lbs of boost. If you take the time to do some research you could easily build a 200+whp 2200 that is reliable. Use quality parts dont cheap on getting the good stuff, it will come back to bite you in the ass later or you will end up redoing things twice.....check out the tuning forum, boost forum and the racing forum and read the stickies up top and go from there.
Meh, go all motor on the Eco...

Yes, noob, the search button is for you...
if you boost it 5-7 lbs heck even 10 and have tuned RIGHT there will be no issues just dont skimp on tuning
