I have... Back when I first came here & brought-up the topic of building a J-car w/fuel flexibility. Never seen one around here, but if guys like Slowolej & MadJack say they exist... and this is the proof. I'm guessing by the seller's location that it was a fleet model that was made to meet the EPA's minimal emissions fleet percentage mandate in compliance with CARB requirements for vehicles sold in & assigned for service in fleets located in California. With I had the bucks to buy it, 'cuz CNG is cheap 'round here. Plus, I could use the tax-break gained from owning a ultra-low emissions vehicle.

cng may be cheaper by volume, but from what i hear, the mileage is far worse. i.e. i usually get 400 ish miles on a tank, from what i understand you're lucky to get near half that with cng. power also suffers, the already anemic ohv which usually gets aboot 115-120 crank hp, gets roughly 80 from t'other stuff. also, the cng tank takes up the whole trunk.

Yeah, but still... It'd make a neat collector's item (My dream collection is made-up of oddities). Which reminds me, I've also had my eye out for a '80 CNG-fueled Ford Granada.
Oh hey, I just remembered something...
Back in the mid-'90s the gov did some testing of rail-plug design using a CNG-fueled LN2 as the base. They based the tests upon the emissions results they got & combustion-pressure readings they took via a sensor that they mounted into the cylinder head. I downloaded the PDF of the results. I never really took a close look at it, but it looks promising.

Quite promising I'm sure...
