Overall plans.....
Tuesday, July 14, 2009 10:01 PM
Well thanks to alot of contributions of opinion, I will be sticking with replacing the spark plugs with the OE ACDelco plugs. As for the rest.... I will probably go for that engine restore stuff to see if it actually does anything, unless somebody knows an example of it causing engine damage, in which case I will write it off with the other spark plugs. In addition to the restore, I think I'm going to use Valvoline SynPower 10W-30 oil. At some point I'm probably going to throw a K&N Panel filter in for the sake of convenience, with maybe some glimmer of hope for an extra Horsepower or two. Next, going to run part of a can of seafoam through the vacuum lines and through the gas tank to clean it out. If anybody has suggestions/comments/concerns please tell me. I realize I may not be the most agreeable person, but I know I probably know alot less about these engines than most of you so... Thanks. (Also I was just informed a couple hours ago the water pump on the car went for the third time. So at least I'll have a new water pump and Transmission)

u can pick up a short ram or cold air intake off ebay for just a little bit more than that k+n drop in.

Yeah but those don't come with a K&N and I have not seen one for the 2.2. They are alll for the 2.4

No sorry, they are for the 2.2. But they are all for 1998 or newer. I assume they will still work though

I was recommended by the Advance I called to check for parts that I replace the Wireset too. The guy said that alone could make a big difference, and its only $20 so I figured I might as well go for it.

the filters are normally attached with hose clamps, just buy a k+n filter if ur that stuck on one of those and clamp it to the pipe, then try to resell the no-name cone filter to make a few bucks back.or just put the k+n drop in like u said if u really don't want to do a full intake. just about any one of those intakes should work they just might need a little modification to fit right, but nothing too difficult.
