Spun cat vs universal high flow cat?

Is there any particular advantage to either design? I've gotten this far but now can't decide between the two. I'm looking at the magnaflow high flow universal cat (pn 53005), and the magnaflow high flow spun cat (pn 54955). Is the heat shield nessesary for our application? Mine is an 04 eco. And does anyone have either of these?

i've been running this now for about two years. it's half the price of a magnaflow, flows just as good, doesnt require an o2 simulator, and does not throw a check engine light.

did anyone notice any difference in performance and/or sound? and do you guys have heat shields? im assuming you cutout the factory one and weld this one in its place?

I have a custom exhaust from the head back, well the cat-back section is an off the shelf piece.....but I am running only the shield attached to the underside of the car as well.
