I've been looking around for what header to get for my ecotec with the GMPP Supercharger. I have the 3.0" pulley on it. I understand different headers flow differently, and some work better for boost and some work better for N/A. I've been thinking about this header, but wanted some second opinions:
http://www.iperformance.biz/header/ecotec.html . Any thoughts? I was also thinking about getting the iperformance catback too. I like the idea of the 2.5" exhaust. I also have the Tien lowering kit..will this pose a problem for clearance of the exhaust? especially if I lower it any more (it's not adjusted all the way down now)? Some more information: I had the Patriot Performance head..but eventually it cracked so I have a stock head with the aftermarket internals. The engine itself is also rebuilt. Just looking to re-do my exhaust, it's been a while since I've got to do anything with my car due to being busy with my job and other things. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks
Ground clearance is not an issue if you get someone to route it well. 2.5" is a good idea IMO. I have run a 4-2-1 RK header for almost 3 years with a stock head and the GM SC kit. The torque is amazing in the midrange, but I can guarantee there is some hp being sacrificed in the upper RPMs.
Thanks for the info. Are there any other headers anyone would recommend instead of these. I saw the dyno charts on their site and it seemed fairly impressive...any thoughts on that? I did notice that at least for one of the tests, the before and after came from different dynos, which could have possibly played a part in the gains.
I was SC'ed when I did this. I did the Pacesetter 2.0L header (had a custom DP fabbed) and dynoed 4whp more over the Pacesetter 2.2L header. It's not a big enough difference to swap if you already have a 2.2 header, but makes sense if you are doing one the first time.
I actually don't have a 2.2 header now. I had been thinking about the 2.0 pacesetter with custom DP too. I noticed that the iperformance header has the same 1 1/2" inch primary pipes as the 2.2 pacesetter but the iperformance is a 4-2-1 with a 2 1/2" collector as opposed to the 4-1 pacesetter for the 2.0 which I thought had 1 3/4" primaries and a 3" collector. The reason I say I thought it had 1 3/4" primaries is because on pacesetter's site it said that, but other places I saw said it was only 1 1/2". For the collector size, if I'm planning on running a 2 1/2" pipe for the rest, does the bigger 3" collector matter? I do like the idea of the bigger primaries though. You said the 2.0 header dynoed 4whp over the 2.2L..what about in comparison to stock? Anyone else have any inputs on which to go with or ? Or is there another setup I should be looking at? Thanks
