I used the search, but found nothing, and I sure as hell wasn't wading through the billions of posts from just searching the word "intake" just on the off chance that what I was looking for would come up. Okay, here goes:
What do you call those little rubbery things that they use to connect aftermarket intake pipes together with? They're usually blue, back or red, and I think they're silicone. I wanted to call them intake boots, but apparently, I'm wrong. Also, where can I buy them? I imagine ebay will have them once I know what to search for, but I'd like to shop around because of shipping costs.

most local parts stores should have some intake couplers in the store so you don't have to pay for shipping.

'nother one: It says the working temp of silicone is between -40F and 392F. It gets to be -50 C up here (-58 F) a few days of the year. What happens to it then?

it gets colder. i'd imagine if it saw extreme flex, it may crack. otherwise i'd not worry. BUT, i dont really know, i'm only guessing.

This seems like a good assumption. If you have it bolted on to the right place it should not flex enough to crack it. Good luck bud, tell us how you make out.
And on top of that..... since it's in the engine bay... chances are the underhood temps will rise above that threshold before you start driving the car..
Good point, Weebel. I think I'll try the silicone intakes one, and keep the stock airbox and filter around just in case something happens (hopefully on a day off). I can't order any of it until Friday, though. Anyone have any suggestions on filters/pipe size? I'm thinking 2.5" pipes and an AEM dry-flow filter. And yes, I'm actually asking about this for the Corolla. I'll post the resulting SRI and a couple pics of the car in other cars when everything comes in and is assembled.
