the rksport motor mount as an OEM replacment
Wednesday, August 05, 2009 10:00 AM
Well yesterday i found out that my up mounter mount insert is toally shot, the motor rocks like a baby in a cradle.

I read that most ppl like the TTR stuff over the rksport..but its also more cash.Would the rksport give me oem or better without breaking my bank?

well i'll weigh in on this one. i have the RK sport lower dog bone on my 02. works great, engine remains still as can be. i have heard that the TTR is better, but in this case you really cant go wrong. the RK sport mount(s) give a bit more vibrations in the cab, versus the TTR which has vibrations noticeable lower according to some reviews on here. as far as function goes you really cant go wrong like i said, but based on user opinions the TTR is better.

Side note i noticed you mentioned "breaking your bank," the RK's are 45 for the lower and 15 for the upper if i'm not mistaken (which in my opinion is a pretty good price) and if you cant do the install yourself labor for the inserts shouldn't be too bad, i paid 60 for my install last year by a good shop last summer. that is based on my experience only.

this is what i ordered....not bad for 45 bucks..http://www.turbotechracing.com/productcart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=4598&idcategory=594

all i'm really looking for is a decent replacement for my OEM mounts since my motor rocks like a kid on a swing, and if i get more power to the wheels then i'm not complaining.

no more power to wheels.

you will have a little better torque transfer tho.

Sounds good...from what i've read..its the dog bone that keeps the motor from rocking back and forth and not the upper inset, correct?
The upper mount just holds the weight of the engine.

The upper and lower work together.. So I would do both of them if you can..

I ordered them both..its cheaper i n the long run.

I hope this helps my motor from rockng so much...every time i shift the car bucks unless i perfectly mesh the clutch and the gas.

If your stock upper mount is shot, you will need a new one. What you bought is an insert, its just meant to beef up the stock mount.

not sure if its the upper mount...the motor rocks front to back..which i understand is the dog bone mount.

Usually a beat, stock dogbone will allow alot of movement.

I have an old stocker I can move by hand very easily.

the car is a 97..with 165k on it...id assume its worn out..causing the motor to rock and making my shifts and pullin out rough.

What EXACT products are you comparing? Our upper engine mount does not compare to the RK Sport insert...

Lower mount:

TTR Aluminum = A LOT less vibs
RKSPORT = gets the job done with vibs.
