intake questions

well after looking alot, i have no idea what engine it is that it comes on, the but its the header style intake manifold, the engine came in a 88 skylark i belive, i dont know its making sense, but i was just wondering if thats as good as or better than an lg0 or ho intake....if you need a picture im sure i could go take one... just wondering how they are performance wise...thanks

Nope, they're not that great at all and will not perform whatsoever.
They were only used for a couple to three years but then changed over to the log style low output type and high output type for the LGO and W41 series engines.
I'd stay away from it unless you're more worried about the looks of the intake manifold over the function of it.

from what ive read they are designed for midrange torque. they stop making power at about 5300 rpm but pull pretty good until then. this is probably due to the very tiny plenum designed in these manifolds. i have one and i want to add a larger plenum to it and see what differences are made. i plan on trying one of these in my vert. this with a larger plenum, the 87-88 cams, a 456 head, and the 4-2-1 manifold on a 2.4 should make for quite a torquey daily driver. if i ever get to doing this ill post up.

well i have the intake the 87-88 cams an 086 head and the header from the same engine... you think i would be happy with the setup? i have the secret cam swap already bolted on, are the 87-88 cams better?

If these cams are the LGO cams or High output cams, they're a higher duration and higher lift than the secret cams.
You'll need to make a tune on the car to utilize the better breathing of the cams.
There's alot of work to be had to make it work on the LD9 block too.

the 87-88 cams have a duration of 212 at .050 like the ho cams but the intake has a lift of .340 and exhaust .350. these cams are suited for midrange power, hence the design of the intake manifold and the 4-2-1 style exhaust manifold. the bore and stroke of a 2.4 make it an ideal engine for torque where a 2.3 is more ideal for higher rpm power. for my daily driver i want to find a set of these cams to go with the intake and 4-2-1 manifold for a nice torque curve and not too many high revs. the 086 you have has larger ports and most likely will like the secret cams better. the 456 head off the 95s, atleast in stock form, out flow the 086 heads under .350 lift. the flow bench results are floating around here somewhere. the exhaust manifold will need a different 2-1 section as the stock is crunch bent pipe and not good for flow and wont fit our platform if you are considering using that. so basically this setup would be good for a strong torquey motor but not a high reving high horsepower motor. it all really depends on what you want.
