ok, so i have a stock 3speed auto 2200.
for those that engine type will help...

and i have an AEM long ram intake, stock intake mani, stock header, stock cat, stock pipeing, and a 2.5" inlet fart can with a 4" tip.
i think for stock everything, and and just intake, that can sounds pretty mean, and actually not raspy or ricey....but i know there will be haters.

for those interested, here is my story. u can skip to read the help i need below if u want. BUT, i was driving down the street, like an idiot at 130 am, blasting my music....pass by a cop i didnt see till last minute, he pulls me over.....gives me a summons to court ticket for the sounds, and then walks all around my car giving me tickets for everything he sees! ....front turn signal burnt out, no rear license plate light, front license plate in the window [dont have a front bumper on the car as of right now], and having loud exhaust....now just to let u guys know...ive had this exhaust on my car for two years.......and ive had about 15 tickets in those two years for speeding....never once had a ticket for exhaust......also to let u know, more useless things.....but this is my fourth time going to court for my sound syetem...im expecting some jail time this time around....wich im not looking forward too....but im a dumb ass, and like to jam out loud when im in my car....

so on to the problem. i need a quieter exhaust. ive been reading up lately, and i hear good stuff about dynomax.
what else u guys got thats quiet. performance is what im looking at too....no OEM restrictive stuff. im looking to get the 21/4 piping, a large resonator, and a magnaflow/equivilent hi-flow cat as well...whats a cheaper hi-flow cat as well. i wanna keep it quiet as possible, and still give me good performance. and somewhat cheap. all sugestions welcome. and video clips are very very much appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

....i really love the look of can mufflers tho. and the whole JDM look of having them crooked...i really like that megan racing N/A 2.5" inlet, 4.5" outlet...i know....kinda over kill.....but bad ass.....any way of keeping that monster quiet almost like OEM???

keep forgetting things, hahah. but as most people, i dont want rasp, and eventually, i wanna get a pacesetter header, and does anyone even mass produce intake mani's for the 2200? ...i know venom sells em for the 2.4.....

Exhaust clips will do jack for you as most microphones people use pickup a very limited frequency range. Your best bet is to get a 30" Magnaflow resonator cut in directly behind the cat. If that's not quiet enough get rid of the fart can for a dual chamber muffler of some sort.

biggest my exhaust place carries is 18" and i dont think its magnaflow. coulbe be tho. didnt ask.

so while fixing it, i wanna do my exhaust the right way.....
also, i know jail is a big deal, but im thinking its only a couple days/one week at most type deal.

also, the place where i get my exhaust done, said they dont do manderal bending....im having a hard time finding a place that does...
they said there pipes at the bend get slightly smaller. so idk how bad that will hurt, but as long as it gets slightly smaller, and doesnt crinckle/ripple, its still pretty good, right? also, they said the stock cat is already hi-flow....all cars new with an OBD II have higher flowing cats already, and that they cannot put a high performance one on there, because it will throw codes, not pass e-check, and be "for off-road use only" i think its BS. where can i either get a catco/flowmaster/other performance cat thats relativly cheap?


they also said, 2 1/4 piping, 18" resonator, and dynomax turbo muffler, WITHOUT CAT is 189.99 plus tax....dunno if thats stainless or not. ....forgot to ask, but is that an ok price for exhaust without a cat?

It's the highest flowing quiet muffler made, as far as I can tell. It sounds great, zero rasp. Louder than stock but still quiet. Low rumble.

I have two in my car (one where the cat belongs) and 2.5" piping with a Stans header. Its about as loud as stock, maybe just a touch louder. Cops never look at me for exhaust....well maybe the black cloud that sometimes forms.

Looks to me that you would have learned to turn down your radio after the first two times in court for it.

whether its mandrel bent or not isnt going to make n e difference on your car. from the oem exhaust to a 1000 dollar header back, your not going to "feel" any difference with a stock 2.2... just make it sound how you want it, and if you want a JDM look then buy a honda.., jdm stands for Japanese Domestic Market, were in america bro and your driving a chevy which would be USDM... im not trying to sound like a dick but your never going to have a fast 2.2 . IMO you should save your money for a good lawyer

im eventually doing an eco swap. so, OHV engine gonna be gone...but when its gone, i dont wanna buy a new exhaust again, so i wanna get the exhaust done the right way, and have a nice setup for later. ...im not gonna buy a honda, i just told u guys that. im sticking with the cavalier. and there are plenty of fast guys with 2.2l OHV motors, so i dont know what your talking about. i definatly could have a fast 2.2l if i want to. but i would much rather have an ECO motor..so you are right, i will never have a fast 2.2l OHV motor. ECO on the other hand tho, yes, i will. in time. right now with my 2.2l im also looking for looks and sound...now my taste may not be the same as everyone elses on here, because i like the JDM look on a USMD car, but hey, thats me. u dont have to like any of it. also, im not going to need a lawyer, im just pleading no contest, and taking what he gives me. its just me vs the city, its not like going to the state or anything, no lawyers needed for that.



another question tho guys, im really thinking about that dynomax muffler even tho i love the look of the can.
and the resonator on the piping. my question is, if i really wanted to get the 4.5" tipped megan racing can muffler
to be quiet without a silencer, would just a resonator do it? or what else would have to be done to it? would i have to use that 30" resonator that was mentioned above? i like the look of the cans, but would love a pretty mellow/quiet one!!!

I would suggest a good name like Magnaflow. As for the high flow cat, it is kinda true. A "high" flow cat just has a larger core, meaning that it matches the rest of your pipe diameter, therefore not restricting flow.

You obviously love cruising in your cav, nothing wrong with that. But what happens if they take your license/ride away? Take it easy look at the big picture your stress will go down and you'll save some cash on the tickets.

and i do not believe im giving any tuner a bad name...sorry i try to avoid being home...[at that age where dont like parents, and being home, lol] i cruze around in my car, because its my passion, and i love just to cruze with the music up loud, to relaxe and take stuff off my mind...i just am not lucky, and the cops get me.
...im not the guy revving his engine at every honda civic out there, doing ricer fly-bys, racing every other kid i see in a 4cyl, or blasting my crappy 2000watt sound system......i have a quality [IMO] system, that is only 300watts, no, not a typo, only 300. not 3000, or something stupid......like i said, i got this just to upgrade from stock, and have a nice cruzer, not to ghetto thump around disturbing the peace........

this guy has got it completely right, i love my car, i love working on it, i love what ive done to it already, i love to just cruze around...u know the pointless drive when u got nothing better to do, or when family is fighting and u dont wanna be around, or when u just install something and its time to test it out.....i just love riding around in my car! hes right tho, and so is everyone here, i gotta take it easy, and watch for the police more too!

i titally acted normal, and nice to them...but they proceded to
write me BS tickets! ...cops just do noyt like me/my car...

a few days before this i was going 34 in a 25, and when i saw the cop pull up
behind me, i slowesd to 30, he pulled me over, and gave me a ticket for having my plates in the window.
because i had the front bumper off, and the rear bumper, i had just put on, and didnt have any of those
square block things with the threads, so there was no mounting place for the rear as well, and i went to my gf's
to pick her up after work, and i changed outta my work clothes, and forgot my wallet in my work pants, so ticket for no proof
of insurance and license...but amazingly he forgot about the speeding!!!

then, a few days before this^^ i was at my GF's, and they have 5 cars, so i parked behind a row of two, and was in the sidewalk.
they gave me a ticket for that.....which come on, do they really have nothing to do except explore side streets they never go on almost ever, and look for little tihngs like that??? ......what handycapped person is going down the sidewalk at 1-2 am, that i need it to be clear for them??? .....also, the whole police station knows my car, i think they are on a constant look-out for it.......

so in a matter of one week, i have managed to recieve 6 tickets!!!

1) parking in sidewalk.
2) license plates on to bumpers
3) no license/proof of insurance
4) DTP/sound system
5) loud exhaust
6) burned out license plate bulb

all in one freaking week!!!
