I have a 1997 chevy cavalier automatic. When i have the car in park and i rev the car up it will only rev up to 4 grand. Is there a way that i can bypass it so it will rev out to the max. Please help i hate it. throttle
The motor is a stock 2.2L. With the intake on the top of the vavle cover.
WHY?
There is no reason that you would need to rev your engine in park. That being said the GM engineers decided it meaning there is a rev limiter on the car to keep it at 4k or under. The only way to change that would be to change the transmission parameters through tuning. Like I said there is no reason and unfortuantely I can say your super awesome ln2 won't be impressive.
I accidentally the SHIFT LIGHT!!!!!!!!!!
The proper way of using the word seen. It is not I seen it that would be I saw it. He has seen the car is the right way to use the word. English class is Cool. By the way thats my sig
Post these in the newbie section from now on.. this has nothing to do with performance.. there's actually people there willing to discuss things like this
and hold the shifter between park and reverse.
its made like that so you dont tear it up. free reving a motor is the quickest way to blow it up.
put it in D and drive it!!!

trying to show off or something?
4000 RPM is the rev limit in park or neutral, its programmed into your computer and cannot be changed without tuning software ($600+)
and a word of advice.. free revving is stupid,
nobody thinks its cool, not even in staging lanes at the race track. If people at the racetrack think its stupid, you think people in real life will give a rats ass?
Don't do it.

Just because I want you to blow your engine, or destroy the transmission so we can all laugh at you...
Hold you transmission between park and reverse... then rev it up!!!!! (heres wishing it slips into reverse at 5,000)
I was just wondering if there was away to get past the reving. My friend wanted to now , not me my car is manual trans.
