hey guys i just bought a 01 chevy cavalier z24 5spd
it was turbo'd b4 i got it and still is on a turbo tune (i belive it was on a tune it sounds like it is ) the car runs with the turbo tune (no turbo on car)
i was wondering if i took a ecu outta my friends wreaked cavy would that ecu work to start the car ? and drive it every day or would i need to get it flashed?
bc its not safe to run the turbo tune on a n/a set up right ?
plus i wanna ask if anyone knows this car
my friend bought it then lost interest after she put the engine in ...

so my question is can i run on a ecu from a other car with out getting it flashed from the dealer .
and its not safe to run the turbo ecu everyday?

what engine does it have in it? you say 01 Z24 is the year and model but ecotecs did not come in in that year or model. i'm guessin it's an engine swap. i suggest you get an N/A tune as the tune is prob dumping more fuel in than you need. you could just get another ecu if they are the same type of engine and transmission or find someone to put an N/A tune in but that will cost you credits on HPT and maybe someone's time.

if your friends car has the same engine it isnt a problem to switch them out really. and yea the turbo tune for sure is gotta be dumping way too much fuel, and maybe has other settings changed that could harm the engine n/a. i would get it done asap.
