engine swap

so recently I blew my 2.2 with only 88,000 on it. It has overheated a few times and I kept fixing parts and ect. Finally I got mad and just drove it till it stopped, started making a horrible clicking noise from the heads. I just got a newer 2.2 with only 65k on it. Beside my road rage lol is there anything I need to look out for considering its a complete replace? Just not sure on that. Also does any one have experience or have used an MSD ignition coil for the 2.2? Any noticeable difference?

The GM ignition is about as good as the MSD, so the little gain you'll get isn't worth the price of the MSD system...

You do realize the 2200 OHV is a 4 cyl and only has one head, right??

further, you have a 2001... did you get an 02 2200 OHV or by newer do you mean the 02+ 2.2 ecotec (as the 2200 OHV was discontinued in 2002)

assuming you have two identical motors, what i would do is tear the new one down and replace all the gaskets, seals and bearings. On reinstallation make sure everything is tight and torqued to spec. if you really want to go performance, now is the time to build it... however i'll warn you... it takes a lot of money to make the 2200 OHV as quick as a stock 2.4 litre and the 2.2 Ecotec.

then just drop it in, mate it to the transmission, reattach all the accessories & Manifolds, and your wiring ... that motor is pretty simple...
