Hi all ... I have a 2000 z24 convertible and everything is stock.... what I would like is to change the muffler only... I don't like ricer tones bumble bee like sounds from a honda. What u guys recommend? I been reading and flowmasters 40 series I guess is a NO buy. Borla XP Pro something like that? how that sounds... what about Dynomax Super Turbo or What about MagnaFlow...?? Remember I just want to change the the muffler not the whole piping. Or should I just leave it stock? Also I kinda like the backfire poping sound that doesnt bother me at all.

P.S. Also what about and Cold Air Intake any how-to's? I'm just interested in Fuel Economy not HP or whatever. Thanks!

If you are lookin for a muffler upgrade, a lot of people go with Dynamax Super Turbo. Not too bad a sound, especially without changing all the pipes. As far as the cai, shop around on ebay and dont waste your money on an expensive one like I did. Good Luck

i used to have the super turbo: Dynomax vid

But now i have duals with the Magnaflow camaro/firebird muffler: Magnflow vid

I'd recommend the super turbo if your looking for something quieter
Hope that helps.

Agree with yellow, go with the dynoMax. I have one on my cavity and I love it. I had to change the complete piping to. Get rid of that backfire. Plus a. High flow cat won't hurt.

Oh s***, he has two fire extinguishers in there!

wait.... you get fuel economy buy just changing the muffler tip?

but if you're hell belt on doing that, the cobalt guys have been testing various mufflers with their stock LSJ (cobalt SS Supercharged) mufflers... HP/speed stays about the same but the stock cobalt muffler remains the quietest... go with one of those.

however... changing a muffler really does virtually nothing without getting a header, high flow cat, and upping the piping to match the size of the header & muffler... just opening up the outlet doesn't change the fact that you have really small pipe coming off the motor and down the whole car.

For 40 bucks the thrush sounds nice. It's a good deep tone. Not really as elaborate as the other ones but its not half-bad.

Im using a flowmaster 60 series that works great and has a nice deep sound and as for the cold air intake make sure if you get one from e bay just use the piping the filters are junk id recommend a k&n filter or something higher grade for a cai

I had a Dynomax Super Turbo on my old Z with the stock piping (changed out of necessity, as the stock one had a baffle rot out and start bouncing around inside. LOL) It sounded just a little bit louder than stock, but very smooth, not raspy at all. I would highly recommend it.
