Hey awhile ago i posted something about have dual exhaust and i was told it was some what pointless ok i cant battle against that because my lack of knowledge...something about exhaust scavenging...any who i noticed the altima 2.5 is a dual and makes 170hp (thxs to the cvt and 1.00 extra cubic inch) but can you guy explain why they did that. I mean is because that extra displacement that the duals are utilized? I dont you guys are way smarter maybe you know.

For looks, same reason you can get a Sunfire GT with a 2.4 LD9 or a Ecotec with factory dual exhaust.
No performance gain, just looks better (in some peoples opinion) and extra weight.

a four cylinder car only has one bank of cylinders. so splitting the exhaust up dosent do anything that a bigger single exhaust wouldnt.

so what about exhaust flow, i mean having more flow, wouldnt that be able to produce more torque at like higher rpms?

flow is limited by the smallest point in the system.
think of it like this: if you have two 4" pipes at the tail of the car, they'll never flow to their capacity if they're fed by a 1.5" pipe.

the only way a dual exhaust would work is if you went dual from the header but thats pointless.

It doesn't have as much to do with how many banks as much as how much flow.

PLEASE go back and read what I wrote in your other thread (

Kind of, but I don't think that applies to what the OP is asking.

What makes you think that would make it "work"?
