hey i apologize ahead if this an already made thread but im about to head out to look at a 94 3.4l firebird auto and i also have a 2.2l 95 cavalier manual, i was wondering if this a possible engine swap? would it be the same as just takin the 3400 out of a grandam? ive read and done alot of research about this swap im just curious because it is a rwd car. reason id be doing this is to have a nice lil sleeper, and i could throw a 350 into the firebird, i have motor swap experience, and my dad has TONS of experience. also have a welder and etc. could do most=to all work ourselves. money is not too big of an issue but i also dont want to waste my time and money if its really not goin to be worth it?
thanks in advance!
The starter is on the wrong side to be used in a FWD car. They relocated it on the RWD engine because the steering gear gets in the way.

Does this mean the axle would hit it?

No it doesn't.
However, it does mean that the hole in the transmission bellhousing for the starter would not line up to where the starter is.

I dont think you understand his intent. He wants to buy the fire bird, take the engine out of it and put in a 350 crate engine, and he want to see if the 3400 from it would work in his cavy. Way I take is it that the firebird should be the priority.

I think he does understand the intent, which is to try to put the 3.4L iron head in the J-body. Which isn't going to work, and he should get a 3400 and put it in, they're fairly inexpensive.

Just don't put pump gas in it.
Don't do this its a horrible idea.... let me do it since I have the pistons sitting in my shed next to my 3400...

Using 3500 heads will help keep the compression down a bit. 91+ though.

for a rwd application , better to just get the 93-95 F-body 3400 and trans , since its set up as rwd already

Not what he was asking. He wants to use the F-body 3.4 in a FWD application.
