i have a 2000 cavalier with a 2.4l in it and im wondering what i can do internally to get the most out of my engine like cams, valves, porting, pistons, rod lengths, rods... i would really like to build it for street/strip i don't care bout economy and am looking for more lw to mid range torque. any ideas on where i can get the parts and what parts i should get because i cant find anything for this engine.
thanks,
cody
2.3 oil pump swap. ARP main studs.
Balance entire rotating assembly within +/- 1 gram.
HO cams.
HO intake manifold port matched to 2.4 head.
Port exhaust side of head. De-shroud and cut seats for three angle valve job. Deck head .020. Cometic .030 head gasket/ARP head studs.
Mcmoney adjustable cam gear setup.
bolt ons. (intake, tb, header/full exhaust, mounts)
dyno tune for best results with cam gears and hp tuners.
if you are worried about the stock pistons, have them cryotreated and thermal barrier coated. worried about rods... have them cryotreated and have ARP bolts installed.
this should give you roughly 10.3:1 compression and if tuned correctly around 190-200whp. of course you can always do more... if you have the funds for the goods!
enjoy.

where can i find performace internals like this for the LD9 i cant find them anywhere?
What are your goals for the car? There is a mp45 s/c that will give you a little more then 200bhp on a stock motor and seems like there is a few used kits around these days.
Wiesco forged pistons, Eagle H beam forged rods, polish stock crank, 2.3 oil pump swap, ARP head and main studs, port & polish stoch head or get 2.3 HO head (086 casting), HO intake and tb, HO or bigger cams, header, 2.5" cat back, Team Green lsd and finally power adder of your choice turbo supercharger or nitrous then go have fun.

I was told HO Cams are bad for boost applications, to use "Secret Cams" with boost?
HO cams all the way. If your going to boost the engine i say stick with the 2.4 head. The 086 head will raise compression a lot.

Whats your budget? Whats your goal? You can literally change out all those parts and really not gain much out of it if you don't have a good plan ahead of you. Also in some cases, its just absolutely not necessary. If you want good low-midrange, then don't touch your valvetrain as any air modifications will just raise your powerband unless you're talking about utilizing forced induction.

Brad did you find them parts yet
i also have a 96 z24....i have a throttle body spacer, header cat-back exhaust lowering springs, bigger sway bars, motor mount insert and wish bone from rk sport.....what all else could i do to the motor cause i got to pull the one in it now out and replace it...i already have a motor out of a 97 z24 and possibly a tuned comp
Swap over to the 97 PCM so it can be tuned. 96s are bastards, and can not be tuned.
Pulleys

, intake, sell you TB spacer since it doesn't do anything, you want to make the motor more efficient.
