NGK 7316 Spark plugs too long?
Wednesday, October 15, 2014 12:52 AM
I have purchased some NGK 7316 (part number) spark plugs for my '97 Pontiac Sunfire 2.2 and they are about 1/8 to a 1/4 inch difference (longer) from the OEM spark plugs.

Does anyone know if these spark plugs are correct for this engine?

I was trying to look up the clearance between the piston (TDC) and the head/spark plug, but I guess I am looking it up wrong or I don't know what I am looking at.

Any guidance is greatly appreciated and if you wouldn't mind telling me where you got the information would be awesome as well.

Thanks.

How did you select these plugs?

I'm showing stock number#7159 for the normal G-power plugs.

The number you have is Iridium plugs, but should fit.

I went to Oreilly's auto parts asked them for performance Spark plugs and they had recommended the 7316. I wasn't about to put the 7316 in there without some kind background knowledge of the spark plug length being able to clear the head. What makes you believe that the spark plugs should fit any references?
