I went and test drove this car tonight and checked the car out and looked in the trunk to find out there was a major water leak. Upon further review of the car i notice that it had repair patched and new tack welds. This car looked to be in a major rear end collision. I want to make sure that NO ONE buys this car without knowledge of this repair because of the quality of the repair work. The dealership DID NOT inform me of the work done to the car and i made the sales rep Doug Koier aware of the repair work and informed him i would not be purchasing the car. Can you please help in the situation so that anyone looking to purchase this car is not screwed out of their money. Further this car is listed as a GM Certified used vehicle.
Thats my email to carfax and gm.
This car is located at Heiser Chevrolet in West Allis, WI
Ive emailed GM Certified Used Vehicles and Carfax.... I hope these guys BURN IN HELL!!!!!!!!!
Ill try to keep this up to date with responses from GM and Carfax.
BAD COBALT
ya dude they do that stuff a lot, my buddy did over 19,000 in damage to his new balt ss, whole right side was replaced and nothing will ever show up on a carfax. he told me they dont report a lot of that stuff on newer cars

its sad
Carfax will even tell you that it is NOT 100% accurate. But still, that is pretty shotty. Thanks for the heads up man
dan
Dont worry tho i found another car im looking at.
damn. nothing much more you can do to let people know about this car. Maybe post it up on a cobalt forum.
Happened to my mom with her first grand am GT. She had me call up the place and get some warrenty work done/ i went over the car and tryed to find stuff wrong with it. They tried to nail me with the price of alligning a headlight and i told them " you failed to us it was in a crash and you sorta fixed it and you want to charge me!" plus too the grinding noise i was hearing was the fender liner that wasnt attached rubbing on the pulley.
but ya anyways, that is the most you can do is drop a e mail to people and post up on a few forums. I personally wouldnt get too involved with doing so. I know you are a nice guy / looking out though.
so you looking into a cobalt ss, or a v8 car? what is the game plan.

Good looking out man.I think any repairs that go through insurance will show up on car fax.If the person decides to repair it on there own,its not gonna show up.I think thats why carfax says its not 100% accurate.

I looked at a Balt SS before I got my GTO cause I thought that the GTO was outta my budget too but then actually my GTO has a lower monthly payment than the Balt SS that I was looking at and the gas mileage is probably not that much different especially if you put the stage 2 kit on the SS. Insurance was also pretty comparable for me, My insurance only went up about $25/month from what I was paying on my Z24.
The Cobalt SS was an 06 with about 26K miles and the GTO is an 04 and had about 55K miles on it when I bought it. Both were figured for a 4 year loan. The lowest the dealership would go on the Balt was $350/month. I got the GTO for quite a bit less than that per month. Not trying to bash on Balts at all because I think they are nice cars but the GTO is way nicer all around in pretty much every way. I'm definitely happy I went with the GTO. You can't beat LS1 rear wheel drive fun. Plus the GTO should hold it's value better than the Balt.

So in the end they dropped the price of the car pretty considerably.

?? Dropped the price?? $350/month was the absolute lowest I could get them to go on the Balt. The dealership I got the GTO from was way better to work with they offered me a fair trade in value right away with out me having to hassle them. The sales guy at the place that had the Balt was a complete dick. Plus they were idiots there. I tried to get them to include the stage 2 kit with the Balt and the guy was like umm won't that void the warrenty. What an idiot the stage two kit is a GM part and they are a GM shop. Plus the sales guy new absolutely nothing about the Balt he couldn't answer a single question I asked him about it.
