Official Info : 9th Annual FL J-Show / GM SC Meet
Saturday, April 05, 2008 12:03 AM
Ok first off, as we have talked about in the past we have adjusted the name of the show to incorporate the possibility of other GM Sport Compacts joining us at the show. What does this mean? It means that the show will still be what it has always been, a Florida J-body Show. With that being said, if we get enough interest from other GM Sport Compact peeps we will add award classes for them accordingly.

Great to see some solid info on this finally.

I just have one problem and you all can jump down my sh!t or not i dont care, but im not digging the idea of only Sunfires being on the shirt. I think it should be equal. And as i brought up to a council member today is that there should be some sort of stock-ish looking car on the flyers because if people who know nothing about us or the site see only customized cars theyre gunna think "eh my car is stock and crappy i dont think ill go".

Just my 2cents. I dont think i'll be buying a shirt this year......

Something to keep in mind when looking at the flyer's and t-shirts - it's all about advertising.

Your typical car show advertisement (whether it be a flyer, t-shirt or both) doesn't usually depict stock looking cars, it usually features cars that would draw attention and help promote that particular event - which is why we decided to use the top cars from the previous year. And just ask yourself, which draws more attention, a stock looking j-body or a modified j-body... and by no means am i saying anything negative about having a stock'ish car or that stock'ish cars do not draw attention - we all had a stock'ish car at one time or another So out of all the cars that registered at the show last year, if these were voted the top 3 cars, shouldn't these be the cars that represent/help promote this years show? Also, by listing the award classes on the flyer, people can see we have classes for everyone, whether they are stock, mild or wild...hell we even have the under construction class

But I am sorry to hear you will not be purchasing a t-shirt - but keep in mind you are not only purchasing a t-shirt, you are helping support the show. Any and all proceeds from the registration and t-shirts help us to be able to put more into the show. This means nice trophies, more award classes, raffles/giveaways and possible cheaper registration and t-shirt prices the following year...

Thanks & I look forward to seeing everyone at the show this year...

- Donnie

as much as i hate to admit it he does have a point jess......i mean i for one am very proud of my stock-ish looking car and i know thats the reason i built it that way for me...key word their. but if you look at nopi or any major car show, the cars they use for advertising are anywhere but stock. as far as buying a t-shirt or stuff like that i mean that is your own choice and thou i do not plan on entering into the show this year ( for several reasons) i do plan to at least get a shirt and help the cause as best i can for the better meant of the jbo scene as a hold

Its not that i dont disagree that the top cars should be on there, but i think if your wanting more people to join our community that maybe the top car in the stock class should make it on there as well some how cuz at least that way people can visualize whats all in the show. Honestly when i get these damn car show flyers stuck to my car in a parking lot, i dont read all the writting, im a visual person, i look at the pictures of the cars on there. So if i dont see something i like or something that looks like my car would be wayy out of place, i dont usually plan on going unless ive otherwise been told about the event being something worth going to.
And also, i DO realize that last years t shirt was only a Cav, so im not being a d!ck about this.

I live close to the track, and was wondering if people wanted to meet up at my house before hand, have a bbq, and then everyone drive out to the track. Its about a 15 minute drive from my house to the track. Let me know who is interested.

I like the idea. The thing is lots of people are not getting to Orlando until the time the track opens. They are driving straight to the track, or getting to the track late. Last year a decent group of us left from the host hotel and drove to the track together ( That was when I almost rearend Jesse, RIP). I plan to be in Orlando around 3pm, and get my car ready for the track.
