^^^ what he said... And if that doesn't work kick it again

2004 Turbo cavalier 11PSI and blown!
lol funny u said that. i already did
have you check the fuses then just go through all of the hookups
cardomain page
i know its hooked up right. i cut the original wiring harness and found out it has to be intacted so i wired it back together and bought the wiring harness connector and it is doing the exact same thing now. all the fuses i checked were fine. i dont know what the hell it is. i guess the 00s cavs are a pain in the rear
always check fuses after doing wiring ESP ESP ESP if u have problems.
I have an 02 sunfire (hence the same car pretty much) and it is very easy with no problems....idk what you did....but where did u attach ur red accesory wire? I think you may have gotten some wires mixed up
yea did you run the 12v source wire. not in the harness. you have to run a seperate 12v wire. if that makes sense, if you havent already
yea it makes sense. i am just gonna get a new cd player i think that one is broken

maybe you shouldnt have kicked it so much.....
If your factory stereo sayd RDS on the front, you have to have the interconnect harness that remotely mounts the factory head unit....because it is tied in with your computer, and MUST still be there (that also has the tweeters in the sail panels) if you have the bottom line one, you have to run the separate power as stated above, and you loose your turn signal, key in ignition with door open noise, and a couple other crappy noises that the computer plays through the stereo....or you can also use that interconnect cable on that model too, and keep all that.
I have an 00 cavalier and hooked up a cd player with no problems. Make sure you hook the "turn on" wire to something like the windshield wiper power wire or something like that.

that information was completly wrong.
did you run a seperate 12v switched wire? if not thats problaby your problem.

How is that wrong? The six speaker head units in the z24's with the RDS stereo have an auto volume control, that gets a signal from the computer to tell vehicle speed....you take that out, you have problems with your auto tranny...call aamco and ask.
Also, if you put an aftermarket head unit in the base model without the interconnect cables you loose your door chime.....call any local stereo shop, or look at the instructions for your wiring harness for your unit...it says so right in it.....how is that not correct??
there are hundreds of guys that took out their rds radio, me included that havnt had any issues at all using the $13 tracker harness. you dont need to relocate your radio. and by the way mine is also an automatic. i agree you loose chimes, if you want the chimes there is a wiring harness that for $30 comes with a small speaker to keep your chimes. either way you dont need to relocate your headunit. that myth comes from hack ass companies like best buy that doesnt want to do any research on the problem itself.

I can see that. I believe this problem is more persistant in other GM models, like the Impala, where the radio controls things like tire pressure and oil change light resets and other scheduled maintinence items. I have the base model one, so it didnt really concern me in that aspect, but that is what I was told, and that information was supported by several companies.
hey sns when i buy my new head unit will u help me install the darn thing

basically the issues arises for any gm car that has onstar, thats when things get tricky. the j-bodies dont have onstar. but since most companies are to lazy to do their own research, they just tell you what everyone else does. that doesnt make them right. just lazy.
redline if you get the harness we can work on the radio, just have to find the time. got shows the next three weekends.
