The other day I got pulled over on the northway around exit 8, and got a ticket for my exhaust system (3 inch mandrel bend with a flowmaster 40 series muffler). now, I am NOT complaining about getting the ticket (the cop was very nice and didn't write me up for 77 in a 55), I just want to know what to expect when I go to court for it. I don't know if I just have to pay a fine, or if I will have to take off the exhaust and put a stock one back on, because I REALLY don't have to money for that. Thanks for any help

most likely they will just hand you a fine......
but dont expect it to not happen again. Any modification to a stock exhaust is technically illegal in NYS.
If possible I would try and get some sort of silencer, or some glasspacks welded in to keep the noise down a bit. Otherwise, they'll keep ticketing you and profiting
chris you should get away with just a fine, it sounds to me they're using it as more of a crutch, like the old "i'll give you a seatbelt ticket" routine. if my memory serves me correct, you've had your exhaust on since, what, '02? if this is the first time you've gotten a ticket for it, just keep your speed down and you shouldn't have to worry about it again.

dude, what did you expect??? You knew how loud it was when I had that damn 40 series on my car! You couldn't even hear your exhaust and you have a full stans at the time. All I had was the damn muffler on a stock exhaust and I shattered your life. BAH! You knew it would happen.
thats the thing, I have never been pulled over for the exhaust, i was pulled over for speeding and he cut me a break by only giving me an exhaust ticket
I will just go into the halfmoon court in my Clifton Park FD work shirt and see what happens 
If i had been one more exit up it would have been clifton park town court and I would have had the ticket taken care of alread, DAMN, next time I just have to drive faster
