As some of you know, my car has been sitting up in the North Hills of Pittsburgh for a couple months now, waiting to be dynoed by one of the only knowledgable people in the area.
Last week, I layed down the law and said I was picking it up the next weekend (tomorrow) done or not....preferably done. It just so happened that the family was going to dinner further up the road from where the car sits, so we got to drive by and see it.
This is what we saw: (see attached pics)
Obviously I am kinda pissed. I am getting it out of there tomorrow, and half my front clip is laying on the ground.
SOOOO, I want to know what you all would do in a situation like this.
The front piece was firmly and professionally attached when I brought the car to him, there was no signs of sagging or anything else. I have a feeling I am going to get socked with a huge bill for my car to sit there, literally fall apart, with very little effort put forward by the man in charge here.
My origional W-lip was forcedly removed in an accident a LONG time ago, and they charged me about $50 to hang it back up - no paint work needed. I have since replaced that, since I left it sitting on the side of a highway after hitting a deer with it, and this is my second W-lip. But, this was professionally installed, and has been firmly in place for a year or so. At this point I dont even know what to say or do. I cant drive it home like that....I dont want him to tear it off and stick it in my back seat and pretend like it never happened, and charge me full pop for everything he did (not) do.
Any advice before I pick up the car tomorrow evening would be appreciated.

i would be livid and demand an explanation. If none can be given contact the authorities, or your insurance company, seeing as the vehicle was damaged on his property he "should" be responsible for repairing it

^^^ with most companies not true for them to be responsible for damage on there property. pa might be different. i would just finish removing it and reinstall it. also isn't just held on with 3m tape across the front. if so with the heat sometimes the tape won't hold. if you say all of a sudden? it because it was in direct sunlight. and no air movement or shade to help it cool off. gl and at first it looked like the front of the car was slammed on the ground.
id say maybe he took it off to get in to the dyno or maybe your charge piping came loose a little and he took it off to fix it. but if thats not the case and they damaged it and he wont cover it call your insurance and police and get it documented or something along those lines. but if you start tuning it your self and want help or company you got my number

ps you car looks badass with that hood.
Well I called him early this morning, to ask if he had removed it to get it on the machine, or something along those lines. He said it was just coming off.
Yes it is held on with 3M tape, and screws in the wheel wells, and it was outside for the months he had it, so the heat does make sence.
The tape that holds it on is relatively expensive, probably about $35-$40 worth. I really think, after relaying my disappointment, I will try to simply take $50-$100 off the bill.
I was so pissed when I first saw it, and posted up the pics. I have had time to cool down, but it still makes me pretty mad it happened. Hopefully since I called him and let him know I saw it in that condition.....he will hang it back up before I pick it up tonight.
Chris, company is always welcome when I am tuning. I do not know what all if anything he has done to my tune file, so I dont know how good/bad it really is.
no offense but the tape isnt worth 35-40 dollars, you can buy it at staples for 20 bucks for a big roll of it.... just get it put back on and call it a day....
Moulding tape FTL!!! All it takes is a few hot days, and the tape will fail. Adhesion promoter usually helps keep it "stuck" for a lot longer. Razzi uses the same stuff on their "Body Kits", but we always used 2 part panel bond when installing those kits @ my old job. Now that stuff will keep that lip on!!!

Well I got my car back. Lip not attached, and not happy eith how it is running. He adjusted my tune so it would idle better, it has a very low lopey idle from the cam.....so much it causes misfires at 900 rpm, and it now likes to stall any time you let off the gas (shifting, coasting, etc). So in general I am not happy. He had my car since April, and still didnt finish it. He did charge me full pop for everything, and didnt give me any discount for the lack of body pieces that are now gracing the interior of the car, or anything else that was disturbed in the process.
I do plan to just hang the lip back on, but I was suprised at the lack of concern this guy had. I also noticed the side skirts sagging from the same condition I am sure.
Im pissed about the situation, but just glad to have my car back, to tune back to the way I want it.....and eventually get it dynoed, but not dyno tuned unless there is someone else in the area compitent enough with our systems.
Can I get some mirror love now big guy?
Thanks pumpkin. We should get together shortly, and if you want, I'll get together with you and get that fixed once and for all. I have a few inexpensive options for you that'll keep it on, and you'll be able to remove it if need be.
DO TELL......
I am looking for a better sticking solution for these.....
Sucks, John...
I wish you were closer so our guy could work on her

I mean, @!#$...he tunes jet engines for a living
PERRY!!! Come out once in awhile!
Im just glad to have her back. I already fixed the major tuning issues it left his shop with.....both the low idle misfire, and stalling out whenever you push in the clutch. I still have a few more bugs to work out, but am waiting for Karo to send me a new cable for my wideband.
