New here with a 86 buick skyhawk t type
Tuesday, April 26, 2016 8:01 AM
I'm new on here and I got a 86 buick skyhawk t type hatch 5-speed. This is an original California car I have all the paperwork leading from the original owner all the way up to me have the original owners manual and build sheet from the factory everything on this car is still original and any parts that were replaced the originals were kept.

Welcome Aboard Greg!!

Amazing find! Rare right down to those Louvers! I bet Motorman377 would get a kick outta seeing this.

I can't get over how clean this veteran is - of course it is a Cali-Car though. Makes one wonder what other gems might be hiding around there!!

What else can one say........Time Machine? Thanks for sharing!

Haha another Skyhawk, I see more on here in two days than anywhere else in six months lol.

Love your car Greg, and especially how different it is from mine. Goes to show Skyhawk could go from downright sporty (I'm sure yours must fly because these things don't weigh much) to a boulevard cruiser / old-lady special like mine. Louvers are so 1980s too, I'd love to see the interior and your gauge cluster too!

Oh and I meant to ask since you have flip-down headlights, do they work well or are a little temperamental like mine? It's impossible to find the spare parts it seems...

No they both still work I just fix the driver's side the bracket was broke for the motor and replace that now both work fine

I forgot to say if you do need some spare parts for the driver side I have plenty and I have two spare Motors

Hey thanks for the offer! So far the passenger side is the one that gives me trouble. But while the motor may be a little tired by now, I think the first problem is with the hinges that connect the motor to the cover. I'll have to take a closer look when I come back from vacation but symptoms point to that...

Greg - how long have you owned it?

You should definitely post shots of the interior and engine compartment!

Gorgeous Gregg! This is exactly what I've been looking for! Any chance you'd be willing to part with it?

The turbo engine was an option on T-type's, not standard.

Greg if you haven't seen this before Dealer Brochure for the 1986 Skyhawk

Wow I did not realize that! Interesting. I just assumed they were, probably because I think all Regal T-Types were turbo.

So was the turbo always an option on T Types or only an option after a certain year? My perception was that only from 1986 on was turbo an option, but I'm not sure.

No, they were not. Ttype and RegalT were made with V8 as well.

I think the first gen T-types are my favorite J-bodies - ever. Yours is exceptionally clean.
