I got an email from a friend in FL saying his friend his selling a 1989 Z24 convertible that he'd sold him a few years ago.
The car has 33,000 original miles. I don't know if it is a 5 speed or not.
It looks great in the pictures and has always been garage kept. It's an original California car. Then they moved to Florida years ago. Rust free.
He is asking $8,500.
If interested, PM me and I will reply back with the owners phone number.

Yeah it is probably a great car. But I think he is asking way too much for it. And more than likely, it is an automatic.
The 88 5sp in Lenoir is pretty nice too, though I haven't been over there to look at it in person yet. It is only about 20 miles from me. But my next vehicle purchase is going to be a Phantom X-1 ultralight.

Car is officially for sale. I'm not going to get around to restoring it as I've got too many irons in the fire. Can send pics and explain car in further detail as needed. Car is located in eastern NC and comes with a crap ton of parts I've acquired over the years. Come see it, make me an offer, and trailer it home. Does run and drive but water pump leaks so can't run long. Been sitting a long time but in damn good shape.

Used car market is really getting nuts now...
1991 Chevy Cavalier wagon $18k it's a base model with what looks like the only options is automatic transmission, A/C and roof rack and only 27,000 miles.

For giggles I searched Saturn S series and found a "bumblebee" optioned SC2 for $12k. Even found Saturn's with over 200k miles going for $3,000.

Yeah it is crazy overpriced. It does appear to be extremely nice. However, its not perfect, if you look at all the pictures of it. And so bare too. Even if it were a loaded up RS (did they make a v6 RS Wagon in 91?) 1/3 of that price would still be pretty high.

A guy I work with is looking for a decent pickup. He can't find anything for $6,000. And that won't buy a really decent one with reasonable miles on it. He's still looking though.

Well, I knew inflation would come rushing in and this is only the beginning, most likely.

I don't know if RS package was an option on the wagons but I know the v6 was an option.

$6k these days gets you a 200,000+miles probably rusted beyond repair truck.
My brother in law is looking for a newer car and can't find anything under 100,000 miles in his price and size range. He hopes his car lasts another year when prices might come back down to reality.
I can't believe my dad's Cruze actually appreciated in value, he recently got a letter from a local dealership offering to buy it for more than he paid for it if it passes their trade in inspection.

Hope everyone is doing well these days !! :-)

Yes the auto market (used & new) has turned on its ear. I strongly recommend for folks to take it easy and try to just repair what you have. Not only are prices through the roof but vehicle conditions should be very suspect. Anyone selling a good vehicle in these conditions must have their head examined unless it might be for health reasons or a death in the family. So the old saying goes " If it is too good to be true , it usually is " Right now fixing and playing for time is probably far cheaper than rolling the dice on a purchase that very well might wind up needing more repairs and costing you more than what you already have.

Fortunately my Sweetie and I made our purchases last year before the market went nuts. I picked up a good running B4000 and she a dependable Camry. I bonused out getting her hand-me-down 3rd Gen Cavalier that even still has the A/C working on it. Things will settle down one way or the other , if you can - just hold on to your hat and wallet and weather out the storm.

I find myself thinking long term and wondering if and when the Feds will slam the public with another Cash-for-Klunker Deal when the time is right for them to promote sales of EV's. When that happens it surely will make this mess we are seeing now a walk in the park compared to the aftermath of massive numbers of ICE vehicles pulled off the road !

RS was an option with either a 4cyl or V6 available. I don't recall all the years though. And yeap, that is what my workmate has run into. His old Chevy's trans went out and he started looking at buying another used on. Sticker shock hit him though, once he saw where prices are at. I offered to help change his trans, but the old truck is eat up with rust and he doesn't want to mess with it.

I've not been in the market, so I really didn't know how things had gotten. I've got 3 of my cars on the road, so I should be okay for quite a while. Lots of spare parts, both new and serviceable used ones. Some new parts are getting hard to get for 2nd gen cars, I've noticed. I expect this will just get worse.
You are probably correct about another C4K act. Now that you've mentioned it, I can see that happening. God help us all.
